Koh Samed, Thailand
Stepping onto the white sand of Koh Samed is like being in a parallel dimension when compared with the suffocating pollution, noise and hyper-speed of Bangkok. Koh Samed is only 3 hours away from Bangkok and is a favourite for Thais and most residents of Bangkok. If you visit there on a long weekend you might find difficulty locating accommodation if you haven't booked. We found out the hard way, a few years back we went down in a group without booking, some of our friends were there earlier and found rooms, but my friend and I ended up walking along several beaches to find a place to stay. In the end we found a government owned dorm room, which had about 20 beds and was super cheap, although we only used about 5 beds!
This shot was taken on a weekend more recently and no it wasn't a long weekend! Our family usually go on a beach walk in the late afternoon and we always enjoy navigating over the rocks you an see in the picture. They are a great spot to take photos from, with a higher vantage point. The islands seem to regenerate my soul, allowing body and mind become one with the beautiful nature of the island, soaking in the laid back atmosphere and vibes. If you are a backpacker, you should check out my friend's Hostel: Olly's, he is a top bloke, offering budget beds, good drinks and mean burgers!

It is pretty cool, it is a dorm room, but you get your own little pod that you can get inside and lock.
Looks great. Thailand is an awesome place for holidays. The beaches there are stunning.
