The Daily Sneak 16 February 2019 - with guest curator @paradigmprospect
Welcome to The Daily Sneak!!!
We reward quality content, AND content curators! Come for the crypto, stay for the community!
You can win up to 10 SBI per accepted submission for guest curating The Daily Sneak. Submission requirements are published at the bottom of each edition of The Daily Sneak.
This ongoing curation contest is no resteem, no upvote, no follow required.
Today's guest curator is @paradigmprospect.
It seems that art is once again at the forefront of what is being created and shared on Steem, to a degree that I find utterly amazing. So many varying styles, so many high caliber pieces created for us to marvel at.
And - natural to @paradigmprospect's submissions for the Daily Sneak - some alternative viewpoints to consider for the issues and tasks at hand. Come check out the inspiring and helpful creations of these 5 Steemians and show them some love if you dig their contributions.
The Sneaked Selections
Tutorial: How to Make Paper Gift Boxes - It's Easy!
Sooner or later there will come a time when you want to give a gift to somebody in your life - a member of your family, a friend or your neighbor to make up for that loud party night the other day.
Gift boxes and packaging come in many forms, but I often find that the one I'm really looking for is not part of the store's inventory and I often wondered: Shouldn't I just make my own and get exactly the box that I want?
If you ever felt the same way here's an amazing guide by @chelsea88 on how we could easily make unique gift boxes ourselves and not rely on buying them in stores anymore. Also a great opportunity to work on something together with your kids and gifting something very special to the lucky recipient in a totally out-of-the-box manner ;)
[CR] Move on with your art
This Steemian creates magnificent morphing artworks and still pictures of cosmic caliber. Much of his art reminds me of the mindblowing psychedelic art I regularly see at psychedelic festivals, but as opposed to still pictures many of these move and evolve in front of your eyes.
I could post his latest piece here, but then you wouldn't really have reason to go and visit @whornung's amazing blog would you? Let me instead link an older one here, in addition to the one you will find by checking out his latest post. Mindblowing, huh?
Ratschu Pikatschu Captain - Pirate Portrait - Time Lapse
It's always amazing to see how art is created step by step, especially when you are not an artist yourself. I have wondered often how exactly this happens - from a blank page to the finished piece.
Fortunately, the amazingly talented artist @leoplaw has recently shared his process with us painting a rough-looking pirate dude of ages past who may have never existed. Then again, looking at the picture almost forces the idea that it's a 1:1 portrait as if we were in the middle of the pirate age or Leo had a secret band of pirates living near his studio!
Come visit his blog for more breathtaking handpainted pieces of unique character!
How to Get Cheaper Solar Panels and My Lessons Learned from My Local Market
The dreaded power bill. Every month we pay heaps for electricity, some countries are outright insane when it comes to the price per kilowatt/hour. So naturally, people are exploring other options - reducing their power consumption, opting for less power hungry lifestyles, or eventually getting off the grid completely using alternative sources of power like the sun's energy.
Fortunately, we have a tribe of DIY'ers on Steem that are always keen to share their experiences and know-how with others to help everyone excel at getting their projects off the ground. If you are looking to build your own solar-based project or have the idea of buying panels to resell to other tinkerers who don't want to bother with browsing all the offers, this post by @makinstuff is a great starting point.
Who Are The True Owners Of STEEM?!
I like to look for hidden agendas, alterior motives and largely undisclosed aspects about the things we normally take for granted. I do it all the time. HOWEVER, sometimes I literally force myself to try and see the other side, to consider where I may have gotten carried away and to aim for maintaining a factual but balanced picture of things.
Since I see so much wrong with a large part of Steem(it)'s history and since there has been a lot of worry about whales, centralization and a potential top-down governance I feel this article by @teutonium can deliver a healthy dose of optimism in times of uncertainty and worry. Comes with ample exclamation marks and may even get you pumped about this place once again! At the end of the day, the vote is up to all of us!

Submission Requirements
On to the submission requirements for The Daily Sneak:
- You can choose from 2 to 5 articles for your entry. Submissions with only one selected article will be ignored.
- All articles chosen for curation need to have been published within the last 5 days before your entry. It may take time for me to publish your curation, and curated articles need to be within the reward window when your submission is published.
- You cannot submit your own post for curation. Selections from nsfw will not be accepted. We also check for plagiarism and only highlight original content.
- Selected posts should have less than $50 in total rewards and have not previously been curated by The Daily Sneak.
- We try to spread the love around, so while selections from authors that have been highlighted before are welcome, they might not be included if the author's last inclusion was recent. Similarly, if you include two articles from the same author in one submission, we will typically highlight only one of the two.
- Be sure to include your personal bio for me to introduce you to readers, and make sure that each selection has commentary. This can be just a few sentences about why you think the selection is worth our attention, or what is great about it - something that will make people want to click through the headline and check out the actual article. English is preferred, but other languages will be considered as long as English translation is included.
- Please use this web form to submit your entry. https://goo.gl/forms/VH2MGIMEgqZmd9ef1
- Including image links to the source article is not required (and we prefer to leave some mystery if photography is highlighted and the article has only one photo.) However, we like to include images in The Daily Sneak, and not including any image links may decrease the likelihood of your submissions being published.
If you include more than 2 articles in your submission and not all are approved for publication, your submission may still be published into an edition of The Daily Sneak, as long as at least 2 articles are approved. This could happen for several different reasons. If you are unsure why an article was cut, please review the submission guidelines again. If you are still unsure, feel free to ask politely why it was cut.
Submission Reward
A brief biography of each guest curator will be included in the edition that uses their submission. In addition, each guest curator will receive 2 SBI for each article from their submission that is highlighted in The Daily Sneak. That's up to 10 SBI for each accepted submission!
With Steem Basic Income now upvoting comments for members that have not posted within the last 7 days, and SBI having proven to be a great value proposition, we chose to rewards curators with SBI. This will help The Daily Sneak continue in its mission to discover and reward quality content creators and curators.

I really need to star using less exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ahahah
Thanks for the resteem and thanks for reading, I have other content if you happen to want to read more :) Always glad to have more viewers, I like to discuss my own views with people.
I always have to put a lot of thought into exclamation marks. Am I using too many? Not enough? Does this convey the appropriate degree of enthusiasm without seeming overbearing or cheesy?
I never feel like I've quite got it right, but at least I try!
