The other side - Dubai

Unfortunately our holiday in the UAE has just ended and we have returned to the usual life and the usual winter in Italy.
We had a lot of fun and enjoyed it, but relaxation was just a part of the holiday.
In fact this holiday also was helpful to me as an experience to see how things work out of my world.
Taking Dubai with a tourist eye you only see the side of unbridled luxury and excess.
Things that seem to be exaggerated or even pessimistic in Italy are normal in Dubai. For example, eyelashes, lips, and breast reshaped in a woman are the absolute normality, where in Italy you can see 1 out of 100; jewels of the value of several million carried like poor jewelery, Bentley is not at all rare (I remember that the basic price of a Bentley is around $ 180,000), immense villas on deserted islands and so on ..

Very nice luxury, but usually there is always the other side.
If luxury is a face of the medal, in fact, on the other hand, we find poverty. Yes, you've heard well, poverty in Dubai.
Dubai is always associated with skyscrapers and wealth but it is not the only part of the city; there is an area, a collection camp called Sonapur, which collects more than 150,000 workers from neighboring poor countries such as Pakistan and Bangladesh.

These workers move every morning to come to work at Dubai's construction sites (literally full of buildings under construction) and return in the late afternoon with buses containing about twenty workers.
I do not know if it is true, but I even heard passports are being confiscated at the border so they are forced to continue working.
True or not I do not know, but surely every day many people die for the heat: working with this humidity and 40+ ° C is really very dangerous, especially in the shipyards.

So remember that the city of Dubai is not only unbridled wealth and luxury, but also poor workers who are looking for money for their families in their own countries and which sometimes unfortunately can not even come back.

We can do very little; it is true that we could not go on holiday etc, but certainly would not change the situation.
I can't do much, but in my small one I prefer to give a small tip to the person who cleans me the bedroom, at least I know he will serve him and his family in his country of origin.
