More Breeding Genetics and Patterns III

in #cats5 years ago

The mismatched eyes may be indication of hearing impairment of the cat as it grows and this can lead to total deafness. It’s worth being aware of these issues. Breeders will not often breed two white cats and will opt to mate white with alternative colours to reduce the probability of hearing impairment.

Patterning is a very distinct yet broad features that breeders will come to know about. For instance the Himalayan gene is responsible for the pointing features in a cat. The darker areas that crate an almost mask like effect around the face with further shades around the tail and legs are clear indication of the Himalayan (also referred to as Siamese) genetic presence. For some breeders this is an ideal look to achieve as it will often bring along features that influence eye colour and facial complexion that is often seen as striking due to the blue hue of the eyes.
