Project Warlock

I have been following the progress of this game for some time now. This game looks really cool! My favorite thing is that it follows in a lot of the same design ideas as my game Revulsion. Its a classic Doom style FPS built within the unity engine and it has a unique art style that I find really inspiring.

For awhile I have really enjoyed the idea of utilizing more simplistic art styles in order to gain independence as a game developer. The simpler your games art style the fewer people you will ultimately need in your employ. This means you can have a game with a wider breath of content and it also makes the design process more simplistic as well.

Interesting and simple art styles are highly enticing to me for a lot of reasons.

This art style is really unique and interesting! I feel like the game is done in such an interesting and consistent way! So when this game comes out I will DEFINITELY be talking about it. This is exactly the kind of inspiration I need for my own game and I hope to enjoy this game soon.

So what do you guys think of Project Warlock?

Sort:

Retro style. Like it.

this seems like a pretty cool game, then again, gotta respect that Unity vs UE4 tradition you know, being a UE4 guy. And I know all about trying out simpler art styles so that you can actually work on the game without worrying about looks and perfect shaders all the time.

Don't you use the Doom engine itself actually? I can imagine it's a heavily modded GZDoom engine.

Gorgeous graphics style, either way, keep it up!

I use UE4 for my game. Project Warlock is in the unity engine and its closer to a Wolfenstein style game. Neither of us are using GZDoom.

Oh, I see. Makes sense, I guess, more options and stuff - however, I personally found sticking to Doom much more interesting. Not a fan of Unity, but GZDoom isn't much faster to work with anyway.

UE4 is where its at in my opinion. :D

Sharing to get this seen more (and maybe open the eyes of a few)! Thank You for a well post and documented article! Resteemed.
