Does anyone know at what point steem power makes a noticable difference?
I have been powering up when I make any earnings on here lately. But I wonder if it will really make any difference powering up with 10 bucks here, 15 bucks there. Does it make sense at this point in time to power up with such small amounts? Or should I just plan a bigger investment down the road?
It totally depends on how valuable Steem is. I remember back in July when I broke 200 steem power my votes were worth $0.01 to someone.
Now I have a steem power of over 6000 and my votes are not worth even that. As the value of steem fluctuates the value of your vote also fluctuates.
There is also a fixed amount of STEEM added to the pool that is distributed to the content creators based upon up votes and how much power the people up voting you had. So it is not just steem price value that dictates these things. It is also impacted by how many different things are voted on out there. In July there were fewer people and steem was worth a lot more. Those two factors resulted in a lot more value to your vote at earlier steem power.
This would suggest that as our population grows the APPARENT impact of your steem power will visually decrease as it is further diluted. These are my opinions based upon observation, and thinking about what I observed. They could be wrong.

I actually edited it and added some other factors that are just as important that I thought about after the fact.
Its such a complicated topic. Anything to do with the inner workings of steemit is going to be tough to explain to the average user I fear.
The upside is that your activities and gaining steem power now should offset that. Getting followers who read your posts regularly should also help with that. I do know the payouts are a lot less than they were, but this is not bad, it could be just seeking a norm, and I expect that to fluctuate as the market value of steem fluctuates.

the more you have, the more you get.
the actual tipping point it a moving target but you can't go wrong if you have MORE!
It and reputation are important to how much influence your vote has, how influential your vote is determine how much money you get.
