Out at the Farm: Harvesting Berries & Cucumbers 🥒

I came out to the farm this evening to do some laundry and work in the garden while that was going.

I did a bit of weeding (I barely made a dent, there is a LOT of work that needs to be done) and then I decided to pick some blackberries. I got a good amount, considering last year this bush only produced about three berries!

I also picked some big cucumbers. I picked some last week and the first one was perfectly delicious, while the other two were very bitter and soapy tasting. Yuck.

Hopefully I get some good ones today, which is why I picked more this time as well. If they're all good that would be great, but I have a feeling at least a couple will be bitter again. I read online they get bitter when they're in too hot weather, but it's been a bit cooler lately so who knows.

I then turned my attention to the goji berry bush. On the surface, it seemed there were only a few berries here and there. Then I got down and lifted some of the branches away and I was overwhelmed by the treasure trove I found!

I was down in that bush until the sun went down (it was a beautiful sunset) and I even turned my phones flashlight on to continue picking. It was so satisfying and addictive just sitting there filling up the bowl.

I have one problem though. I have NO IDEA what to do with all these goji berries! I was thinking maybe I could cook them into a sauce/salsa of some kind, or perhaps make a sweet jam, or maybe even just dry them out like they are normally sold? I really have no experience with these strange tasting little berries (they're more like a small pepper).
