In My Hour of Dying – An overseas trip down memory lanesteemCreated with Sketch.

Yes, I wrote this song back in Argentina, I remember it like if it were yesterday. It was an 8 of December… How can I remember the exact day? well it’s easy… that’s the day John Lennon died.

Although that is not the subject of the song it has some relevance. You see I was staying on my uncles house back then, and my aunt is a HUGE Beatles fan. That specific day on the radio they were playing only Beatles songs, and my aunt and me stay the whole day glued to that wonderful music box. It went through the whole of their career, playing songs of every album and giving a bit of back story before each track, it was wonderful, we both enjoyed it a lot. By the end of the day the urge to play was unbearable, after listening and absorbing all of that creativity being displayed for us! So I picked up my guitar and this is what came out.

The story
The song flew very effortlessly, as if had already been written and I was merely performing it. The lyrics, the rhythm it was all there, waiting for me. It talks about a man that is still hung up on some girl. Which he knows that even though is raining and all of this things are happening, the reason for his moodiness is nothing else than her. And in the chorus he admits that despite of all the bad emotions she made him feel, when he finds himself in his last hour, he’ll think of her. His last thought on this world will be about that girl, and the good moments that they managed to live together.

The part that I like the most is the line “sometimes I wonder where you are, but most of all I wonder, if you wonder how am I”. I think it encapsulates a lot of what I was thinking back then, when I hear it it takes me back to those days. That’s why I keep singing this song, while other songs from the same period I don’t, it is simple, yes, but also true. And in the end, for better or worse, those are the kind of songs I’m driven too. Driven to admire, driven to be inspired by, driven to write… and of course, driven to play!

Thanks for shearing this moment with me, I’ll keep bringing new songs whenever possible. Please let me know what you think, your comments and feedback are invaluable. I’m still very new at this and I am in the process of figuring it all out 🙂
If you want to help, shearing and liking the posts sure does the trick 🙂

And in the meantime, as always, Keep imagining… and Keep Loving!
