Getting Extreme With The Dieting!

in #diet6 years ago

So it's October! The Dood started the year at 305 lbs! I'm tall, at 6' 2" but the weight is still very noticeable. I planned on losing at least 50 pounds this year and that's not even close to happening. I decided to weigh myself and discovered that I had only lost about 15 lbs over the summer.

For the most part, I eat clean. Occasionally cheating with a hot dog, hamburger or some pizza. Outside of that I eat a lot of salad, greens, and lean meats like fish and chicken. To make up for my dietary habits I jog 1 to 3 miles at least 4 days a week on the treadmill.

The worst part is I already know that with the holidays starting soon, I'll be packing at least 10 of those 15 pounds back on. Especially during December with the solstice and new years! From Thanksgiving to New Years I always pack on a little weight.

Drastic times call for drastic measures. I recently began researching a lot of the fasting diets. Diets where you eat nothing for 72 hours or longer. Your only nourishment, if you can call it that is from water with different salts to help replenish your electrolytes. I'm currently on day 3 of my fast and all is going well.

The first day wasn't so bad. I was sluggish and tired, probably because I started on a Monday. The last food I ate was around 11pm Sunday evening. Day two was bearable. I had a slight headache, increased my water intake and took an ibuprofen pill and it went away. Today's day three and I actually feel great. I'm going to make my first fast last as long as I can or till Saturday. I figure I'll break fast Saturday, have dinner with the family on Sunday, see how much weight I lost, then start over again on Monday.

My current goal is to lose 10 - 20 lbs in October. Another 10 - 20 lbs before Thanksgiving. Then try and lose another 5 - 10 before the Winter Solstice. From the solstice till New Years I'm going to go off diet and then decide whether I want to continue with the extreme dieting, or figure out a maintenance plan. I might slow down if I start to get hanging skin where my gut used to be. If I start getting that thin though, I'll be happy returning to exercise and a more natural maintenance diet.

My current diet consists of:

1 liter of water
1/2 tsp pink Himalayan salt
1 tsp Potassium Chloride
1 tsp Sodium Bicarbonate
3 tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar
A squeeze of lemon juice from a half lemon.

I'm drinking about two liters of this solution everyday. I've tried fasting before, and this water really seems to be doing the trick. Three days in, no cramping, and I actually feel great. I'm really looking forward to seeing if I can make it till Saturday morning :) Wish me luck.

I may still hit my New Years goal of dropping at least 50 pounds. I'll keep you all updated on my progress.

Disclaimer: I'm just posting this for self motivation. I'm not a dietician. If you decide to try something like this I strongly suggest doing your own research and consulting a doctor before going to such extreme measures.

11 pounds is great. I don't know what it is, but since I quit smoking I've never had this much trouble losing weight. Thanks for the support :)

My pleasure and also stopped smoking 17 years ago. :)

I wish that your dreams come true, health to you, lose weight, but do not get sick.

Come true, health to you, lose weight,
But do not get sick.

Thanks @sergey44 I've been researching this, and I'm listening to my body. If I start feeling weird I'll break fast right away! Thanks friend :)
