We've seen amazing support from the Steemit community in the last week or so while looking for investors, and we are incredibly grateful for everyone on the "Dream Team"!

The Steem House will be a real-world Steem project, taking the form of a makerspace, a free-form collaborative workshop that gives the community access to powerful machines and software that they may not be able to afford themselves. This is our main pitch to influencers within the local community:

I have meetings this week and next with my local chamber of commerce, building owners, and local investors who are ready to get behind a makerspace here in the capital city of Kentucky!

I'll walk in the door with full confidence that the Steem network can help revitalize our city, bring new skills and education to people of all ages, and provide an income that only requires an internet connection and a will to share one's thoughts! One reason why I am incredibly confident that we will succeed in our mission is that the idea for a makerspace in Frankfort has already come up.

There was HUGE support behind a project that started a while back, one that would create the craziest makerspace I've ever seen before! My local downtown association put me in contact with one of the people who were spearheading that project, and he shared with me practically their entire proposal. I won't share any of the information that is contained in that almost 100 page document, but I can share the youtube video that they produced as part of the pitch... Make sure you're sitting down for this... Their project idea would have seen "The Instillery" become a sort of downtown hub for makerspaces all around our city. This video is a showcase of the many small makerspaces within schools in our area, and a walkthrough of the building they were proposing to renovate into a state-of-the-art makerspace and education center:

This was a very ambitious endeavor! One orchestrated by professionals and educators from all around! They just couldn't get the funding they were looking for.

Until just a few days ago when I received an unexpected and amazing phone call from someone who had been given my name and number by the local downtown association, I had no idea there was already this kind of support for a project like this in Frankfort! I was completely ready to bootstrap this whole thing in the basement of an old school building, and use Steemit to show my city what it could do for a startup company. My plan is still to start where we can, with what we can, but I may be looking at a project with WAY more support than I could have ever dreamed of!

With the help of 2 business partners (my fiance @cryptomomma and my best friend @criticalphil), I will start this makerspace on a tiny budget, or a big budget, and any support and advice along the way will be invaluable.

We will use this space to incubate new small businesses for our city, while giving children and adults new opportunities to express themselves in any way they choose. We could empower the youth of our city to take control of their own futures, and become an integral part of our community. We could end homelessness in our city practically overnight by offering individuals a place to come and earn the money they need to get back on their feet. We have a ton of community development projects planned for the future, and numerous educational workshops and classes will take place in our space.

Blockchain for the future!

Everyone who comes in contact with The Steem House will have the opportunity to learn how easy it can be to integrate blockchain technology, and cryptocurrencies, into their daily lives. When you get below the surface of it all, the technical jargon involved can be very overwhelming, even to people who have plenty of experience with computers. The Steem House will hold classes to remove the mystery of it all, and create a new wave of blockchain-savvy individuals excited for what the future holds!
