through the machinery, July 16th
To improve one’s skill, it is common practice to acquire more suitable equipment, either for material quality, form or function. Yet, only in select cases, would items of age stand to offer any welcome change. Enter the latest devices to join my arsenal.
The Minolta Maxxum, a recommendation from on-hand source material, carries the weight and dust of a reliable workhouse. No doubt fresh from someone’s cellar, the whole shebang offered a flash and a large aperture 50mm, at f/1.7. Readers may not know prior the purchase, the largest aperture available to this aesthete was f/1.8. Cleanliness aside, there is a dignity in the black metal finish, something effervescent in the cinematic medium of film. Feelings aside, the tool will unlock new levels of achievement in terms of my art.
Namely, the included manuals offered more than instruction; information abound concerning the shooting conditions for film photography. The Minolta proves itself immediately a useful trainer, while the 1-N will iron out finer pieces and projects. This puppy needs a new toy too, an additional 50mm, to avoid incessant lens switching.
Look forward as I partner with @subciity to find new frontiers through my style in film. As always, for your viewing pleasure, much remains to be seen.

i wish i had the patience for film....
I can't say it's easy, but I think the only way I can wait for film, is to shoot more in the meantime!
