California Surf Museum: Vietnam and Pipeline Exhibits
This is my third and final set of photographs from the California Surf Museum in Oceanside. Whilst I was visiting, there was a show on Pipeline, the famous Oahu surf spot. And there was another set of exhibits on surfing during the Vietnam War, mainly at a place there called China Beach that was used for recreation for American troops.
The Pipeline exhibits were mainly boards that famous surfers have used at this tubular site and some short profiles of them. Earlier sets of photographs have included a few of these Pipeline shots, so I will not repeat them. Also interesting was a large poster showing the reef there and how close it is to the surface, where you can see the legs of some surfers sitting on their boards. This reef must be quite dangerous when large waves break on it and surfers glide just above.
