African Musical Instruments
Here are some more musical instruments from Africa. The first tapestry of color is from the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria. The wooden instrument that looks like a xylophone comes from Chad. Next, that beautiful stringed lyre instrument is Ethiopian, as is the detail of that side-blown trumpet. There are some harps and then those lovely beaded instruments at the bottom, which come from Southern Sudan.
It is amazing how many instruments have some common features, yet are richly distinctive at the same time. If you ever find yourself in Phoenix, I recommend stopping by the Musical Instrument Museum, which is extraordinary.
