Who Are The True Owners Of STEEM?!
We are all the owners of blockchain
We are deep in a bear market, really deep, and I really thought that the users that remained knew what STEEM is... But I guess not, I guess Steem is just like that! It's a blockchain where people don't need to know anything about the tech! And it's great! But I worry...
I worry that STEEM will turn out like our current governments... Where people don't know anything about the system! Where people vote for the one that makes more promises and, in the end, break the promises... Where people know nothing about what is going on! STEEM shouldn't be like that!
When this worker proposal started being formed I heard many people stating that Steemit.inc should be the ones funding the whole thing! Because they were "the owners"! They are not the owners of anything!
Saying Steemit.inc is the owner of STEEM, or that Ned is the owner of STEEM is just like saying Satoshi Nakamoto is the owner of Bitcoin! Or that Vitalik is the owner of ETH! They are not! It's an open source project that everyone can contribute! Steem, just like bitcoin, has a GitHub, where everyone can participate! Where everyone can add code! Where everyone can help out!
Yes, the GitHub is managed by Steemit.inc, but who decides the code that is accepted on the nodes are the witnesses! And, who chooses the witnesses? We! With our SP! So, everyone that has SP is the owner of the blockchain! We are all the owners!
That's why I get irritated when I see people commenting: "Why should we take out a portion of our rewards, or our money to help the worker proposal! Steemit.inc should be the ones funding the whole thing! They are the owners and have more to gain!" Steemit.inc aren't the owners of the blockchain! They help the blockchain and they have a large portion of the SP, but they don't even have 50% of the SP! They are not the owners of the blockchain, we all are!
Think about it this way, SP is like owning a company's stock, if you have 10% of the stock created you are basically the owner of 10% of the company! So, if you own 10% of the SP, you own 10% of the blockchain!
Let's do some math...
The @steemit account has 39millions, the @misterdelagation account has 17million and the @steem account has 11 millions! That adds up to 67 millions! Do you know how much STEEM is circulating around? 315 million!
Doing some math (67/315)*100 equals around 20%! That's how much stake steemit.inc has in the blockchain! They own around 20% of the blockchain! And the rest of us own 80%!
Now, tell me, who has the power here? Who has the biggest stake? Who is the owner of steem? We are! Steemit.inc only owns 20% of the blockchain! They shouldn't be the only ones trying to push the blockchain forward! That's why I get angry when I see people saying "They should be ones funding the worker proposal!"
Let me ask you something! What would you say if you owned 20% of a business and your partner, that owned 80% of the business, told you to put forward 10.000$ to buy better equipment while he didn't put anything forward? If he owned 80% he should put forward 8.000$ and you 2.000$!
And they don't even vote for witnesses! So they actually don't use their SP to influence the blockchain, they don't own it or try to own it by using their large SP stake!
We, Steemians, are the owners of the blockchain, each person that has SP is the owner of a small % of the blockchain! We are the ones that will benefit more out of this whole Work Proposal! We are the ones that should finance it! Or, at least 80% of it...We can all influence the future of STEEM! Influence it to a better future!
We can influence it by voting better witnesses! Witnesses that push anti-spam and anti-circle-jerking code forward! Witnesses that have been here, helping and supporting the community! Witnesses that through fire and flames, through ice and snow, have been here with the community! If you don't want to put the work in to see who the best witnesses are, go and search for someone who can and proxy your votes! I've had my votes proxied for 6 months!
So, if you ever see someone saying that Ned, Dan or Steemit.inc are the owners of STEEM, teach them that we are all the owners of the STEEM blockchain! We should all develop dapps or support those that do! We should all take out of our rewards to help the further development of STEEM! We should all work for a better tomorrow! A brighter tomorrow! A tomorrow that not only opens the gates but also invites developers, programmers, coders and users to our blockchain! A tomorrow where we are all rowing forward!

I'm changing degree for some reason xD But yeah, I'm probably going to work with software engineering, and I'll keep the finance things for myself, might post about them sometimes though... I've also made some veterinary posts a while back, I had a whole post about parasites! I also had 2 posts about dog cancer(one about inbreeding and the increase amount of "hidden diseases" because of recessive genes appearing in pairs, and another post about the hidden ingredients in most dog foods that are actually really cancerous for dogs, some are banned around the world for human consumption but not for animal consume) both of them were voted by the STEEMstem community (the science community of Steem). I'm a jack of all trades! XD

Sure but, big but the majority of stake and thus voting power is held by 1% including an anonymous investor that has the power to remove a witness from 1st to out of consensus. So, yeah you're right but it doesn't really mean shit..its still us n them just like in the real world, there is a center of steem and unless you got half million sp or equivalent u ain't part of it..
1%? First a large % of the other 99% are bots made during the bubble so you can't really make that 1% math unless you remove all the thousands of bot spam accounts that were made during the bubble. Second, that 1% doesn't have more power than the 99%. That anonymous investor is named @freedom has 2.3% (9B/333B*100) of the total SP, 2.3% isn't that much. The problem is that people don't vote for witnesses, they just leave their SP rotting away in their wallet...
They allow us to do many things, including witness voting, STEEM DAO voting, you can go to discord and talk with some of the top witnesses, etc... we are all part of the center, some have more power then others, but we can all gang up and outpower some of the big accounts...
All fair points. I wasn't offering exact statistics, I'm only illustrating the cynical side that is not impressed by the economics, wealth distribution, political, and off the chain power plays.
Why is it acceptable that discord is the place where all things steem get discussed. And yes that's investors name is freedom but he has zero interactions here which is not wrong it's just does nothing to instill any confidence as there is no transparency or accountability from a ghost account.
So I'll be less critical when I see a fantasy of "ganging" up on accounts happen and see new investors come here. Until then it's mostly idealism, nothing wrong with that as this experiment is a new and very prodigious attempt at utilising a blockchain. But, when I see the kumbaya let's all hold hands and float to the moon I feel an almost duty to counter such platitudes...

Agora sei que não! têm o registo criminal limpo :P mas se não estou enganado, penso que em alguma fase do campeonato o fizeram e mantiveram algumas witnesses em lugar de destaque com esse voto de "ocasião".... atenção, posso estar a fazer confusão lol
Pois, isso já não sei, neste momento só o dan é que tem votos a witnesses e são minusculos que ele ja nao tem quase sp nenhum na conta... o resto nao tem votos nenhum em witnesses. Podia ir procurar no steemd mas nao vale a pena, neste momento eles nao têm votos em witnesses nenhumas
