The green community group of Green Community Forum (FKH) Citra Sanggam Balangan, Balangan District, South Kalimantan Province, while roaming the forest in Halong District, discovered a very large tree.
"The tree is very large and it is possible to surround the tree requires at least eight people by holding hands," said FKH Chairman Citra Sanggam Balangan, Fahnor in Panggung village, South Paringin, Monday (19/2/2018).
The tree was found accidentally, when young people FKH roam the forest to identify fruit plants endemic Kalimantan in the district.
After seeing a towering tree they approached the tree and it turned out that the tree is very large.
They themselves do not know the type of tree but it is estimated that the tree is commonly referred to as a kusi tree.
Apparently the tree had been beaten by the bees on it, because there are parts of trees with traces of people climbed, given nails and traces of machetes for the location of means of climbing the tree.
"We had time to take pictures in the tree that is exactly in the village Mentuyan," said Adie a member of FKH Cita Sanggam who participated in the explanation.
According to these environmentalists, the tree is naturally preserved, because it is a natural heritage that remains, and is expected to be hundreds of years old and possibly thousands of years old.
They hope the land owners participate in maintaining the rare plants for future grandchildren, both as a means of education and research facilities.
To the Balangan regency government or the South Kalimantan provincial government they hope to also have attention to the tree, if necessary for its preservation only bought the land by the government.
