Abandoned And Untouched 70's Farm House

in #photofeed6 years ago

I have been doing a lot of hiking lately and not getting out to do night photography like I usually do. So this evening I sat and brainstormed what I could shoot tonight. I remembered seeing an abandoned farm house in a small town, while out with @channeljaytv a couple of weeks ago, and decided to go check it out. The exterior looked quite old and it intrigued me.

Not knowing if it was open or not and not being familiar with the town. I knew this explore was not a for sure thing, but you'll never know until you try right.

I got to the house around 9pm and happily surprised at what I found. A door wide open, I walked in and found a hallway covered in old wallpaper. In fact every hallway had this wallpaper (even on the doors).

The house was untouched, but there was very little for furniture or household items left behind. The stove, a couch, and a kitchen table remained.

I made my way to the second floor and found two identical rooms, with arched ceilings. Two very interesting features were the original light fixtures and the hardwood floor in the hallway. It had what looked like a rug, but was actually a painted design on the floor.

The basic and historic features of this house had me thinking it is was build or updated in the 1960's, but after I got home and did some research I learned that it was built in 1977 and lived in by one family until one year ago, when it was bought by a development company. The house has been slated for demolition and townhouses are going to be built on the property.

Getting to explore a farmhouse with all of the original 1977 architecture and features was amazing! Hopefully I will be able to explore it again and post more pictures.
