I Literally Forgot To Breathe When I Was Watching... GIANT KILLING!

in #blog6 years ago

Have you ever experienced holding your breath because of too much excitement? It usually happens when you're anticipating a certain action to occur or when a certain goal is about to be achieved. Gaaaaa~!!! Watching sports anime really pumps your heart faster than normal! I got my adrenaline flowing throughout my system and I literally hold my breath for several seconds when a mindblowing scene is about to happen.

This is a screenshot I took when watching the last episode of Giant Killing!

I just finished watching an anime called Giant Killing a few minutes ago. I couldn't contain my emotion that I got the urge to type in my feelings into this very post. Even until now... as I am typing this, my heart is racing and I feel fully awake despite the fact that it's reaching midnight in a few minutes! This. Is. CRAZYYYY~!!!!

Giant Killing is a sports anime which is about soccer. The main team is called ETU or East Tokyo United. This team has been struggling in Japan's soccer league for years. Well in the past, they had their "golden days" but it slowly deteriorated when a certain player left. Luckily... or unluckily, this certain player under the name "Tatsumi Takeshi" came back to ETU... not as a player but as a manager.

When he came back, people in ETU club as well as the fans were having mixed feelings. Some considered his "leaving" as a betrayal, so they felt angry and were against him. Some were happy that he came back, yet they were in doubt of his capability as a manager. Still, he was given this shot.

I tell you... HE IS SUCH AN ECCENTRIC MANAGER!!!! His eccentricity can sometimes be beyond reason but I must say he has a great mind. It's as if he could plan out measures and countermeasures ahead. His brilliance reminds me of Lelouch of Code Geass and L Lawliet of Death Note. The type of character in which the situation he's on is like a giant chess board. Ugh!!! Do you get what I mean? hihihi xDD

Well, the team itself was rather rowdy. It wasn't the perfect team. They have a lot of "internal issues" and stuff like that but they have the potential to shine. They're all diamonds in the rough. They're pretty interesting. I guess it's common even in real life soccer games. There are players who couldn't just get along with each other but when they're in the field they become best of friends.

Of course in every team, we all have our favorites. Despite the rowdiness, the players in ETU are all so likeable. However, if I am to choose my top three... I'd definitely answer 7 (Tsubaki), 10 (Gino/Prince) and 15 (Akasaki). All three are midfielders. Well, I also like some defenders like Kuroda and forwards like Sera. Anyway, going back to my top three.

The first time they got my attention was when Tatsumi (the eccentric manager) asked Prince/Gino to show his skills. To start with, Gino/Prince is half-Japanese and half-Italian. He is VEEEEERY narcissistic but he plays really well... just lazy. Despite being a midfielder, he hates running around but he can give you pinpoint passes. So when he was about to show his skills to the manager, he chose Akasaki and Tsubaki to help him out by being his "DOGS". GOOOOSH~!!! Their chemistry on the field is really good! Akasaki became his Zakki (Guard Dog) and Tsukai became his "Bakki" (Stupid Hunting Dog), Together, they're pretty great!!! Ugh~!!! I wanna watch again.. huhu~

Next is Akasaki... Kyaaaa~!!! He's so cool! He is the coolest for me!! huhuhu~ I crai.. oops.. sorry~ Because of his "awesomeness" he was even selected as a National Player for U-23 Olympics. OMG! He's just a supporting character but he really shines. He's dazzling.. ma~ma~mabushiiiiiiii~!!! T_T

Lastly is Tsubaki. He is plain... he can be stupid at times.. but he has it in him. He has the biggest potential among all the players. He's like in both extremes: good or bad. lol~ It's difficult to explain but... I want to see him shine more in the future.

I want season two sooooo bad!!!! Fvck!!!! This anime was released in 2010... and yet there's no season two???? WHYYYYY???? It's so good! Is it underrated???? Well, I'll continue holding on to this thin ray of hope. The manga version is still ongoing, so there's a possibility for a second season. Please... please... hear my plea??? T_T

To be honest, soccer is not my favorite sport to play nor watch. But it's something really nostalgic for me. Two of my cousins were soccer players way back our elementary and high school years. Soccer is not common in Cebu, but it is in my father's hometown. I remember every summer vacation, I go there and watch my cousins play. I couldn't understand soccer that much back then and they were both goalkeepers so my focus were just on the goal post they were defending. hahaha~ But still, I long to go back to those days. I felt the same adrenaline rush when I watched Giant Killing.

Anyway, I'll share more about Giant Killing in my Motivational Post soon. I still got a lot to share, so look forward for it!

Thanks a lot for dropping by!
