1ramp project (Series 2): Content creator or app owner, 1ramp got our backs!

The Asteria protocol is built for developers to easily deploy applications on; be it decentralized or other mobile applications. In the previous series, we discussed how this protocol is able to conquer the problems associated with web users’ data handling, security and privacy. With blockchain technology being used in aiding the Asteria protocol, web users have got all we could ever ask for.

It is not just about privacy, data handling and all that. In fact, the Hapramp team focuses on providing an economy through which we monetize our interactions on web applications. As stated by the team on Hapramp website:

User generated data is their property and we believe a fair monetary compensation (if data gets monetized) is fundamental, just like privacy.

Obviously, our data are being monetized by these centralized systems. We just do not get compensated despite being the owners of the data. This brings us to the first platform to be built on the highly-rated Asteria protocol; 1ramp.io. There are countless Open Source projects out there, each with its unique functionality. 1ramp.io is, however, one of the standouts.

1Ramp – Finally our interactions are duly rewarded

If you are one of those individuals that believe that our social media interactions are all about getting some likes and comments, I think you have a lot to catch up with. It does not end at that. In fact, these interactions; likes and comments turn into money, although the money never gets to us. For this, the Hapramp team created a community-based platform through which we get monetary compensation for our engagements. This platform is 1ramp.io.

1ramp.io is a decentralized application built on Steem blockchain to reward content creators for putting up valuable contents on the web. 1ramp.io is a community-driven platform, so it is all about interacting with one another just as we do on established social networks. Steem is the world’s leading blockchain for social interactions. Hence, as internet users, we have all come across some of these valuable contents being put on the web through Steemit.com and other decentralized applications built on this chain. We will discuss deeply about that later in the post.

Asteria combines the technological tools of blockchain, Asteria network and Open Source data handling standards to create a decentralized network where we are duly rewarded for adding value to the web. There is no doubt about it; the blockchain technology has brought the emergence of various massive projects. Most of the DApps built on Steem blockchain focus on community building and social interactions. 1ramp is however not just for DApp users but is also created for platform owners to make ends meet as they deploy useful apps on the web.

Kudos for the great app. How about you monetize it, buddy?

Not everyone is interested in spending his resources on projects that will not bring any income for the owners. While many of us hide behind “doing this for the people and not myself”, the fact that we all expect to get paid for putting up impressive projects one way or the other cannot be eliminated. Many of the so-called “free” projects end up dying due to the inability to yield some income. At least, one needs a stable income with which the project can be maintained. Nevertheless, app owners deserve earning decent income for putting up quality apps for web users.

App developers usually depend on the use of in-app ads to monetize their apps. This is supposed to be a great deal for all the parties involved; the advertisers, the ad-serving companies and the publishers (app owners). However, over 75% of the dollars paid by advertisers end up in the ad networks bank accounts. They take the ad campaign growth and despite all that, leave the publishers, who drive the traffic with a few pennies.

Hapramp saw this and created an environment where app owners get to deservedly monetize their apps. Again, the blockchain technology plays a major role here to bring about transparency. From what I can tell, we can never have enough of this amazing technological advancement.

And the content creators sit at the center stage…

Not all app owners are content creators. While some content creators have mobile applications for their blogs and websites, many of us do not have the resources needed to put this up. Most of us depend on using free blogs (e.g. Google’s blogspot) to be able to put up some contents and hopefully, monetize them through Adsense. I can tell you that that does not help us in anyway. One of my first blogspot blogs got banned by Google for no verifiable reason. I had to go for a premium hosting so as to have total freedom and control over my contents. That, however, was never a lasting solution.

Not all content creators do it for the money anyway. Some just want to inspire the world, using centralized blogging platforms. However, with centralized systems come censorship and other features that challenge blog contents. Blockchain changed this and today, we can see various blogging platforms that are free for all on chain. For putting over $100 billion worth of contents on the internet, we deserve being compensated. And 1ramp ensures the rewards are beyond likes and comments.

1ramp and Steem – what a chemistry!

Steemit.com, the world’s leading social platform on blockchain has given out over $70 million dollars to content creators for doing literally what they do on other social networks. Despite being an awful writer, I know how much I have made in my few months of using this platform. So, getting rewarded is not news when it comes to all Steem DApps.

1ramp focuses on Steemit’s one of fundamentals on communities’ management. There are eight communities that we can join. These are art, dance, design, fashion, film, literature, photography and travel. As we engage with these communities, we get extra compensation apart from the ones we usually get from curators on Steemit. This is not just a minor reward as it has to do with the quality of the contents that we add to the web.

Project updates

1ramp has already been in existence for almost a year now and has proven to be one of the next generation platforms for social interactions. Being an open source project, it has seen huge contributions from diverse developers and other Open Source volunteers across the globe. The last update, version 1.3 was released on February 5th 2019. Despite being a new project, this app has seen close to a thousand downloads on Google Play.

Departing thought

There are various DApps on Steem blockchain. One thing about these DApps is that each of them has tangible use-cases that benefit the blockchain enthusiasts and the public in general. I have used various communities on the blockchain and I know what I have experienced using each of them. From what I can tell, 1ramp is a great project with exceptional technological tools and use-case.

In the subsequent series, we shall look at the 1ramp android app, its exclusive features and how it helps us in monetizing our contents as we explore the internet.

Hello, @teekingtv. Thank you for your contribution. This is a nice series. The post is well-formatted and easy to read. I have never really got the chance to explore this application. However, from your reviews and the review of others, I can tell that this is a great project. Kudos to the team behind it.

As usual, you did well on the content side. You used simple and understandable words with no much complexity. I find that interesting. Keep it up.
