Enslaving Myself to Work Towards Independence
I have been unemployed for over 10 years. There are a variety of reasons for this, but the main reason is because I don't dig being a slave to a government I disagree with for an employer who is exploiting me. I had many jobs as a youth, and most of them were extremely physically demanding. I did not mind at the time, but eventually I woke up to how deep the exploitation and slavery ran. With my discovery of the mass fraud committed by big banks came my personal vow to never willingly contribute to the machine.
Like most of Steemit, I am incredibly interested in cryptocurrency. It is a tool of revolution, as well as a great investment. I became interested in mining again recently. When I first checked it out, the numbers were not enticing enough to sink money into a mining venture. Upon recent analysis, the situation has changed. Bitcoin mining is profitable again. LTC and Dash mining has the potential to make even more. I feel that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to participate in something incredible and make potentially enormous amounts of profit.
So I began to brainstorm ways to acquire capital quickly. My credit is rock bottom. My friends are all poor. I have no assets to liquidate. It was very frustrating to think that I once had the ability to get a loan that would cover the cost of 2 miners, and now I couldn't borrow $500 if my life depended on it. So, I decided to bite the bullet. I took the only job I could get -- temporary labour.
I despise this gig. I did it for way too long as a kid. The agency takes almost half your pay. Then the government takes their cut. I also have to pay for safety equipment. It is exploitation of the poor and desperate at its finest. However, if I were to save enough for a miner, it could potentially set me free. My goal is the new X11 miner, and after, perhaps scrypt. But once I am mining, I can sink the money back into more mining equipment until my income is satisfactory.
So I have completed my first full day of work. Up at 4 AM (in order to make it to the office that assigns me a job by 5). Start work at 7. Off at 3. Go back to the office to get my cheque. What a horribly inefficient system. Here is what I did today for 8.5 hours:
The bricks had to be removed from the ground by hand and stacked so that flower planters could be installed.
My gross pay was $106 CAD, but I was charged $13 for a hard hat that I didn't wear and $2 for equally irrelevant safety glasses. The government stole $11 in federal tax, $5 for a pension plan that will not exist when I require it, and $1.75 for "employment insurance" which I will never collect.
So yes, I was worked hard and royally ripped off from all angles. All I can do is keep at it and have my end goal in mind -- living off of cryptocurrency. I believe in this so much that I am willing to put myself through this exploitation process. I will try to keep a blog about what work I do and how far I am to my goal. Soon enough, I will have the upper hand. Goodbye dollar, hello freedom!
