Restoring a baby bed
So today we got a wooden baby bed to restore
It's not alot of work... Just some sanding. Staining and vanishing
So sanding it off was the easy part seeing that we use a random orbital sander and most of the surfaces were flat so sanding went really really easy
It's not that easy to see in the picture but we started giving it the stain... And that's where the trickyness comes in... Each layer of stain added that's not added equaly.. For instance the corners which do get a coat extra and then turns darker... The problem is you can see the dark spots... So working them out was quite tedious
OK you guys might not notice this change aswell... After we stained it.. We took a p80 grit sanding sponge and sanded the stained wood aswell...
Keep in mind it should only be sanded lightly so that a little lighter colors come out at the edges and that gives it an old and antique look, but that is based on personal suggestion... If doing that for a client rather confirm with them if they would like it as such
OK so after we waited for the stain to properly dry and pull in we gave it a coat of varnish just to seal it all in.. And that gave it a nice shine on the wood
And this is the end product.
