It may be hard to believe, but many technologies have been suppressed throughout recent history. Weather that be a government who think its people aren't ready for it, or a large conglomerate buying the patents and holding them as it may hurt there revenue.

Either way, its a sad fact that technologies do get suppressed and wont see the light of day, and in some cases, over a century before its seen again.

Here are some technologies that have been questionably suppressed.

The Electric Car.

It would be hard to imagine a world without cars. They are part of our every day lives. They choufer us to and from work, take us on long trips and empty our wallets when we have to fill them up with more fuel. Today, the electric car has only recently becoming more popular and many believe that the first electric car was only 30 or so years ago. The truth however, is that electric cars could of replaced the internal combustion engine a very long time ago. The very first electric car was invented in 1884 by Thomas Parker and at the time the internal combustion engine seemed like a pipe dream and electric cars looked as though they would dominate the future.
Thanks to big oil companies, car manufacturers and governmental intervention, with only dollar signs on there minds. Electric cars became a thing of the past when Chevron and Exxon Mobil bought all the electric car companies and shut them down for good as local transit buses and highways were built, specifically for the internal combustion engine, all in the name of lining the pockets of those greedy few.

Hemp/Cannabis

Cannabis has not long been legalized in a select few states in the US, even in countries where it isn't legal, it is still smoked with many users of the green goodness advocating its benefits for many years, even Science has finally caught on to its benefits in medical treatments.
In the 1920's, hemp was purposely stigmatized as it threatened fuel companies and paper suppliers who used wood, knowing the hazards of deforestation. Thanks to yet again Exxon Mobil, large national newspapers and an agreement with the government, Cannabis was made illegal, thousands of hemp farms burned with the owners shot or imprisoned, it was taken off the shelves from pharmacies and a giant smear campaign started, telling people lies about a product that had been used for thousands of years prior.
Only now are we realizing the full potential of Hemp, after nearly 100 years of false claims.

Tens Machine.

Seen back in the early 70's, this invention was designed to relive chronic pain. It is a simple device, several electrodes were attached to areas where the pain was located and a small electrical pulse was sent to the electrode, stimulating the muscles and easing the pain. Similar to the machines lazy people wear who want a 6 pack in 6 minutes.
Shortly after the first wearable Tens went on sale, the Pharmaceutical and cosmetic Giant, Johnson & Johnson bought out the company behind it, StimTech and closed down the production immediately, as it would of hurt the sales of there best selling pain killers, Tylenol.
StimTech eventually won a $100'000'000 lawsuit after Johnson and Johnson broke the contract they signed saying they would continue to market the Tens product and not destroy it.
Tens machines are coming back, but just like the Electric car, it will be a while before the technology is improved upon.

Digital Cameras.

Every day, people are taking millions upon millions of digital pictures and most of them are shared with the world on social media or image specific websites. But it could of happened a lot sooner.
Kodak, who were the biggest manufacturer of film before digital took over. In 1975 they had came up with the ability to take a digital image up to 1megapixle by the mid 80's, but because the company as a whole relied on physical film production, the breakthrough was put on the shelf never to see the light of day again. That was until Kodak's competitors started to release there own digital cameras, leaving Kodak in the past.
In 2012, Kodak filed for bankruptcy as its film sales dropped by over 90% since 2007. now the once giants of the photography industry now make there own digital cameras, but hold next to no market share.

Free Energy.

Ok, there is a huge argument for and against free energy on the web and among governments, but the idea of free energy came from Nikola Tesla over 100 years ago. Tesla's famous experiments at Warden Cliff tower first tried to send messages across the Atlantic. And who financed this? J. P. Morgan, a bankers and financier who had ties to energy companies, steel, railroad and coal production.
When Tesla wanted to move his work forward and use the towers to transmit free energy worldwide, on demand, at any time, Morgan stopped all funding and severed ties with Tesla.
Without any funding, Tesla's work grinded to a halt and he eventually died penniless. Much of his work was on paper, and after he died, most of it was confiscated or destroyed in equally suspicious circumstances.
The idea of free energy is still about to this day, with many different types of inventions that seem to go unnoticed or missing from existence. After all, the energy companies who make billions a year are scared by the notion of free energy and would probably do anything to stop its inception into society.
It is no wonder this type of technology is being suppressed, maybe Tesla was onto something? He did come up with the idea of AC current you are using right now in your home, another invention suppressed for a few years thanks to Edison's obsession with DC current

It makes you wonder what else is being suppressed by those who put themselves before others. Maybe apple has the tech to make a phone that isn't shit, or perhaps a pharmaceutical company has the cure to stupid, or the government has the technology to stop them being self serving. Either way, there is always something someone is hiding because it wont benefit them.
