being open source and 'kinda' aligned to the way that we all kinda wish communities mind turn out i'm wondering if there is a steem/hivemind kinda cross over here -- i mean they have done a bunch of the leg work already so it makes sense to maybe fork the open source and build on top of it right?

also $100 a month for managed hosting seems like a small drop in the ocean for the amount of value this would give the steem community especially if posts could then be posted back to our blogs to be incentivzed for it - kinda like a musing 2.0

I'm impressed by CCP Games and the Frostbite team using this because I think they are both awesome (except wen it's ME: Andromeda) Being FOSS is another great thing and he features are pretty impressive. It's mobile friendly. I'm not a developer. So I can't say much about APIs although the promises look great. I also love Anonymous posting and polls (I'm a big fan of dpoll).
As for cons, it's not using https. This could be a temporary thing. But it's not really nice to greeted with a warning about the website not being secure.
Another discussion platform just like musing. It's indeed a musing 2.0, this is a nice innovation

Not bad, there are good ideas even if it does not seem completely revolutionary.
In any case it changes all these masses of forums engine made in PHP / MySQL that are all alike. just for that we must applaud the initiative, as much for the technos used as for the improvements to the use.
I like the way 'discussion' helps people to come closer and connecting the community. It's really like musing but with bigger interfaces and platform. I have checked out their website, it really looks promising. This platform can be a great knowledge hub and idea generating place. But I may not afford to buy 100$ month hosting personally.
