Recommendations by an English teacher!

As many of you already know, I am an English teacher so I try to focus on posts which are related to education and English teaching. If you want to know more about my works, you are welcome to check my previous posts out. As I have been working as an English teacher for 4 years, I can say that I am getting better and better every day, so I would like to share my experiences with other educators and steemians who are interested in teaching
First of all, If you want your students to be interested in learning something, you must get their attention which is not always easy. I would like to share some key activities which can make lessons more active and interesting! First of all, If you want to see your students advancing in English language, you must be like friends with them. When they trust you and your knowledge, they will be eager to talk to you without putting any barriers between you and them. You will be a part of their family as a reliable person.
Warm them up!
As English is not like mathematic which are all about rules, teachers must find ways or some tactics to get students' interest. There are some ways to make it happen. Many English teachers like me prefer to us course books in classes which actually guide you to do what you might need in the class. As there are 4 skills of learning a language, books usually cover all of these skills in all units.
It is always a good idea to start the lesson with a warm up activity. Let's assume that your lesson is about past simple and weekend activities. You may start your lesson by asking them what they like doing in their free time. As they activate their prior language and find the topic interesting, you can teach them the grammar rules and new word more easily, making it in an interesting way. Warm up is a must ıf you want to be a good teacher.
Pair work
When lessons are teacher centered, students feel bored easily. If a teacher speak too much in the class, students see the lessons as a history or literature sessions in which they are supposed to listen and answer some basic questions. That's why, teachers need to think about some ways of activating student in the class. The best helpers for us are pair and group work activities which will help urge them to join the lesson actively.
It is also a way of resting for a teacher If he has many hours of teaching during the day. When students work together, they can be guided to speak English with each other which is also a good way of practicing the language for them. When students do not talk to each other in a class, they may not feel comfortable so we should definitely encourage them to do something together and be productive in the class.
Diversity
Student might feel bored with the activities that you have on the course books. In this point, a smart teacher should always have something aside to get their attention back in the classroom. Instead of making the lessons intense with lots of grammar rules , some activities which are linked to daily life can be chosen in the class to make your students feel that all the things they are learning in the class are useful for their life.
Linking your lessons with moving activities can be a great time to create an environment where they can both learn and have fun. Personally, I sometimes make them stand up and perform their dialogues in a more natural way so that all students can join the activities. When you ask your students to read their dialogues, other students usually don't listen to them which doesn't look so well in class, so having them on a kind of stage can make thing seem better for everybody.
