New Old Saint-Petersburg Views
In a sense, these species of St. Petersburg are completely new, unusual. And at the same time they are old, and have changed little for over a hundred years. This frame doesn't show a single modern building. But it was very difficult, almost impossible, to see the Labor Square from this perspective for a long time. This view of the Nicholas Palace opened only a few days ago, after the completion of repair work in the northern sector of New Holland Island.
This view reminded me how important the right perspective is for the perception of an architectural structure. Although you can easily see the palace from the square, you are too close to the building. You can assess the architecture of the building and see the details, but the overall composition slips away.
The second view is also very interesting and unfamiliar. It is the prospect of the Admiralty Channel.
