BEOS Wallet Going Live On Tuesday: Raindrop Starts A Week After
@stan announced on Crypto Connie's weekly show that the BEOS raindrop will start on April 9th. The wallet will open up on April 2nd to give people a week to move their Bitshares over.
BEOS is a chain that is being constructed to join Bitshares and EOS. It is using the EOS protocol meaning that it will have very fast transaction speed. The token, BEOS, is being dropped to Bitshares holders who decide to participate and supporting the system.
There are a number of projects already announced which will kick off over the next year. One is Sovereign Sky which is a satellite based program that is going to run BEOS from space. One of the unique features is that users of the BEOS system are going to be able to chose the jurisdiction they prefer their transactions to be governed by. One option is to allow transactions to come under international law. Space and on the open seas are two areas where there is no jurisdiction from one country.

The first satellite was launched at the end of last year.
Another project is Ruon which is a social media application. Like most other blockchain applications, the "mining" comes from the posting and liking of content. One difference with this application is the business/enterprise focus that it carries. They seek to become the Instagram of business applications.

BEOS is going to provide a bridge between Bitshares and EOS. This will allow any token that is traded on Bitshares to easily convert over to BEOS. There will come a point in time when it should be able to go from BEOS to other EOS sidechains.
The BEOS team decided not to do an ICO. Instead, they are rewarding the holders of Bitshares who opt to participate. This is not an automatic airdrop that is based upon a snapshot of the blockchain. Instead, a gateway is being established by @blocktrades which will enable anyone who chooses to participate to receive the tokens.
This raindrop will last for 89 days. The amount of BEOS is going to mirror the number of Bitshares. The daily payout of BEOS will be reflected based upon how many BItshares are put up each day as a percentage of the whole. 1/89th is going to be distributed each day until the drop is completed.
BEOS is being constructed in a manner to be able to adhere to regulations which could appeal to institutions. Part of the problem with cryptocurrency adoption is the last of institutions involved. At present, regulators are trying to determine how to best allow institutional money to enter this industry.
A blockchain that allows institutions to fully control where the transactions take place could provide the incentive they need to move forward.

This looks interesting. Mith is already doing this and I think already has a debit card as well (I could be wrong), but when they switched there app to PiePie and tried to force it to be more a streaming thing I stopped using it for the most part.
Looking forward to see how Ruon does, but not holding my breath.

Can we really expect much bandwidth from a nano satellite? Especially one that isnt actually just for BEOS, its shared by many people. ... isnt the satelite thing kind of just hype? is it really necessary? Wouldn't we hear more about people using satellites for crypto if it was actually any more possible than those nightmarish posts we read about how hard it is to get signals from the bitcoin satellite?
If the satellite thing was actually serious i would expect to see a LOT more videos and reports and images of the satellite itself,- etc.
But hey best of luck to the whaleshares crew, i hope they squeeze as much as they can out of holding Bitshares for this long...:D so is this just another EOS sister chain BEOS? like worbly or Telos?
Eos will have a decentralized exchange to trade all its tokens against Quint as well as decentralized stablecoins like BitUSD. In return Bitshares will get more traffic. On top of this, BEOS allows businesses compliant with local regulations to connect to these chains in a safe way, which should bring more businesses to the DPOS ecosystem.

What I didn't understand is that a new wallet must be created and that it would cost the equivalent to 25 USD, so about 500 BTS at the current rate.
Like his son's project, this is an over-hyped project.
great info, wasn't aware beos drop is coming so soon. I wonder if there is any utility for EOS proper in it, the satellite network sounds amazing!
