Thoughts on Star Trek Voyager
Having finished ST:TNG, I am now binge watching Voyager on Netflix.
First, I should say that I love Star Trek, and if Starfleet were a real thing, I would try to join.
It has come to the point that when I see someone I admire, I think to myself "That's Starfleet material right there..."
I hesitated for years on watching Voyager because I love Jean-Luc Picard so much that I would have trouble watching another captain.
I'm glad I eventually gave it a shot though, as Voyager is awesome.
On my first post(of many) about Voyager, I will talk about 2 things...
Number 1 -
On the 24th century space-battleship, whenever they get hit by enemy fire, the control panels explode and somebody has plasma burns.

They truly need to do insulate the control panels, or they need to wear blast suits when they are on the bridge...
I am currently on season 4, so for anyone who isn't that far...

Number 2-
I love Seska.
Seska is a Bajoran Maquis... or is she?!?!
Holy shit. She's a Cardassian spy!
She loves to torture Chakotay.
There was a spot in the first season when I thought Janeway's actions would lead to a mutiny, and I was right.
I guess it was more of a defection than a mutiny, since Seska was the only one with the sense to do what needed to be done. She left Voyager and made an alliance with the Kazon.
Here she is escaping Voyager after her plans were discovered.
Here she is playing the meathead Kazon like a fiddle.
Unfortunately, fate catches up to her and she gets whacked, but she still takes over Voyager from beyond the grave by way of the holodeck!!!
I am going to put her torturing Chakotay one more time because she's awesome.

Where I am at in the show, they just found the hottest Borg ever...

I wish I could upvote this more than once! I love love love TNG and I have seen bits and pieces of Voyager when they were on network television, but I have been hesitant as you were to start Voyager, as I just feel like nothing can match up to TNG. It's funny that you say that you now think in Star Trek terms. I do the same thing. When something dumb happens in the news that I feel sets humanity back, all I can think of is: Well that's one step further we have pushed ourselves away from a Star Trek future! This post is hilarious! I can't wait to dive into Voyager now!
I actually just posted a video on our @outsidethevox page and explained that one of or newest projects is that we are producing an adult swim style Star Trek TNG musical. It's going to be quite funny, and we bought all the 90s toys off Ebay to make it happen! I'm pretty stoked! It's great to know that there are other Trekkies lurking around on here! :)
Voyager is awesome! I've found it to be way darker than TNG. It really surprises me sometimes.
The Star Trek future... we have about 45 years to get a warp drive...
A TNG musical would be so cool! I am looking forward to seeing that!
