Watching / waiting / hoping / posting

in #photography9 years ago (edited)

When there is a lot going on, sometimes it is better not to act too hastily. Take a moment, take a breathe and observe the movements of the swirling world. For me, this means to pay attention to what I notice in the world and how I am reacting to it.

I allowed an expectation for a better future build in my mind and I see it currently shrinking with each passing day. I don't have any control over what those with the power do with it, but this was a long form content platform where quality was meant to increase and be rewarded. Instead, it is currently a comment box where powerful people laugh at their own jokes. Lol. Good one guys. Well done. Nice work.

I wrote a post the other day before this all started. Perhaps it is a little more relevant now.

Well, I will watch and wait and see where it all goes and keep doing what I do, posting and crossing my fingers that there is still a future here for my and your family to be a part of. I still feel that if those that can act quickly enough, the platform will not suffer too heavily and the community will bounce back stronger. Idealistic I know. Leave it too long though, and the wound will fester and unity may never arrive. Neither will the potential many see here.

This picture is of a cat in Amsterdam watching the world go by. It was taken on a Canon 40D. Amsterdam is a beautiful city and despite being robbed of a suitcase and having the next two weeks of our trip torn apart, I would go back again. Looking back at my images, I didn't do the city justice so would like another crack at it. Making mistakes is not a death sentence until it costs a life.

Since Hardfork 19 my own post payouts and comment payouts have gone up over 10 X - so I'm very happy about that.

Yes a lot of the comments being posted now are not very enlightening, and there are thousands of people posting utterly crap posts, but I find by keeping my followers list very tight and only looking at my timeline, the content is the best I've seen in 10 months.

I can understand that but it is still an ecosystem that requires other sectors. Even if your feed looks healthy, it may not be representative of the whole platform and if sick, in the long run, it will spread and hurt everyone.

I think that the new people posting crap will get no rewards for it so will rapidly fade away, while the people posting good content will mostly be rewarded for it, and that is improving.

I do have several people I'm following who are not getting the payouts they deserve, but at least since hardfork 19 even punters like me can give them a couple of dollars, which is $1.90 more than I could two weeks ago.

So I think the whole system is improving, and the huge influx of new users, of whom about 95% are posting total rubbish, is just a distraction, while everything is progressing OK.

The thing that I'm mainly unfollowing people for is resteeming! - they are putting the crap I'm trying to avoid on my feed...

Yeah, the resteeming is ridiculous by some.
The issue you will have is that your vote is not worth anywhere near where it could be because the pool is being drained by people only upvoting themselves, especially their comments. There are some very highly vested people upvoting every comment they make at a 100 percent. It drains the pool incredibly fast but has zero spread. They take reward and curation on their own vote. If it continues this way, the entire system will likely implode.

What I'm doing myself is upvoting every comment I interact with and every comment I post myself - but only at 10% - I've been doing that for 10 months now, but I used to always do it at 100% before HF19 because my vote was worthless.

I don't worry about the vote pool because it's all beyond my control, and one thing I've learned in 10 months on Steemit is not to worry about any of it :)

Love cats. thanks for sharing. followed!

Very uplifting post, I've heard from my family that Amsterdam is beautiful even though you had those problems when you went you still want to go back so sound like you enjoyed it thanks for sharing, cute cat watching the world go by🙃🙃

Well said.... following you

Oh mate. Great post with an enlightened perception to subtly invoke what currently is going on in our once promising steemit community. The apparently painful and discouraging early results after the HF19 changes nowadays.

However, nevertheless, I'm also highly amused witnessing how the words of your serious message and core of your post have flown above the heads of those who have commented so far, without even noticing it or being aware of your evil intentions to sow consciousness about the real issue into their distracted little heads. LoL

I guess you prolly have already read my last and most recent post. In case you haven't read it yet, then read it when you have a chance. I promise you a good laugh while taking the right actions to win a well rewarded prize. :)
