The cost in speaking out
I tend not to be too shy when it comes to speaking out for or against some circumstances here and that may have cost me some support over time. But, what I do like is that overall, the platform is relatively welcoming and often, even many of those who take heavy criticism respond somewhat maturely. Not all people of course.
I have talked before about this being a microcosm that mimics the real world and the economics here add to the realism. They evoke a range of situations and a range of behaviours that deal with each. These then cross paths and create a great amount of complexity that pushes and pulls at the many strings attaching this to that, those to them.
It is Brilliant. The best game ever.
What this means though is there are a whole range of positives and negatives within the system to interact with. Being a Steem / Steemit cheerleader tends to get the rewards whereas approaching the negative tends to get the ignores. Of course, this isn't always the case, especially if you already have high stake or support.
But, the negatives of a system are where real gains can be made as they are often the easiest to improve and raise significantly whereas the positives are already positives so they are harder to make 'more' positive. The problem is that negatives for some are positives for others making it a balancing act to find the equilibrium. And this is why balanced discussion is important.
I know that I may get things wrong, may rub some people the wrong way and may make some feel bad at times by shining lights into uncomfortable areas but my overarching (often overreaching) goal is to create a place where all have a chance to prosper, not just financially but creatively.
In the future, the most likely scenario is that it will be the creatives that have the highest value and Steemit has the chance of becoming a hub with many nodes that nurtures and rewards creativity of all kinds. It could be an incubator whilst being an employer and distributor. This is the beauty of having an ecosystem with economy.
We keep working to get it right here and we are at the cutting edge always. It does take work however and that work has to support the positives but, improve on the negatives.
I am not a believer it will, I do have faith it is possible. whether we are the ones to do it is up to the community.
The name of the cafe is Le Refuge and is in Montemartre, Paris. Perhaps we can create a refuge for the creatives to work, grow and solve the problems we face now, and in the future.

The cheerleaders may huddle together and chat from rooftops about all the good, but they aren't effecting any changes that will bring us forward. They are the first to run off crying when their false reality gets shattered in some way as they didn't see any of the issues before they all crashed on them at once.
Better to have your eyes open and see the issues that are in front of you and work towards making positive changes. Those that understand things aren't perfect are much more likely to still be here in the future if things get worse for the short term. IMO they will get worse due to spammers until something is done to slow their growth.
I agree, life is not a happy, pink bubble and neither is steemit. If there are issues then there are issues and they need to be stated and corrected.
If we admit there are issues, then there are potential solutions. Without first admitting there is a problem that needs to be fixed a solution can never be presented.
Well put and said...i had to say i like the photography... Je pense c'est parce que la photo est noir et blanche. I had no idea i can speak French but when i read the café is in Paris, it gave me deja vous . :)
lol. I can't speak French either.
A world where creativity is not only rewarded but nurtured...sounds idealistic.
it does indeed doesn't it ;)
interesting way to draw our attention from the cafe to life in general.
guess I've found my bedtime story tonight
THanks for sharing
Wouldn't it be a wonderful reality if we all agreed and there were never any arguments? It would also get pretty boring too I guess. We need a little turbulence and thought provocation occasionally.
very boring, very stagnant, uncreative.
Quite interesting read.
