Steemitphotochallenge #45 - Entry 2 - SkyLight

And part two, New Years eve 2015/16 we got lucky again with the northern lights and this time we had a hot tub too. There were plenty of fireworks but it was quite special celebrating bringing in the new year with friends, a hot tub and the aurora overhead to light the skies.

This was bringing in the year our daughter would be born and at this point, my wife and I already new she was carrying but we hadn't told anyone yet as it was still in the first month. This posed quite a problem to keep it a secret as after all, it was new year's eve and we were at her best friends place, a midwife.

We managed it but I had to finish off quite a few of her drinks while no one was looking. :)

New years have got better with age I think. When young, there was always a lot of pressure to do something exciting but it generally ended up being the worst night of the year. I have always preferred those nights that are unexpectedly fun. The unplanned ones that start off with, 'Yeah. I guess I could meet you for one'.

Now, bringing in the new year is with a couple friends, maybe one or two drinks (really) and some laughs and stories. Easy celebrations.
