Starting a tag: #forthechildren
I have never tried to start a tag before so, here goes.
My daughter is very important to me and a lot of my writing is dedicated to her, even the things that don't mention her explicitly. My blog is a collection of my thoughts, feelings and is a representation of me as a person. Through here, I am hoping that one day she will be able to read about who I was and who I am and perhaps, who I may become. Me here and me in the real world are quite similar people so this is in someway my insurance policy on my thoughts if something happens to me. She is not yet 20 months old.
I think everyone wants the opportunity to have discussions with their children but, how many actually take that time when life and all the complication gets in the way? We never know what tomorrow holds, so perhaps it is better to have that discussion now, even if they are much too young to understand.
I have friends and family who have lost their loved ones early and I know that for them, a letter, a birthday card, a few words scrawled onto a scrap of paper can hold immense value. What would it mean to them to have a dedicated piece, several pieces that connected them to their past, that gave them insight into where they came from and the people that loved them the most in this world?
So, #forthechildren
This tag can be a place to not only inspire you to share for your child but it could be where we as parents could get views of many other families too. All of the trials, tribulations and successes. What I am hoping that it will be a tag for longform thoughts, the kind of things that people would want their children to know and remember, collected wisdom from the global parental community. Things that someone could scroll through and read from and get views of a world rarely seen, that between parent and child.
What I have found is that through my writing for my daughter and about life in general, I have thought much more deeply about a whole host of issues that might have otherwise passed-by on automatic pilot. I think it has made me a better parent and even if she never reads a word of this, that might count for something in her life.
This is not a competition, there is no pressure to take part but perhaps just thinking about what you might want to say to your children, investigating what you might want them to know about this world, will give a prompt to look at it all again.

What about people with no kids? I might come up with something anyway. Not sure what...A story from when I was a kid maybe? Who knows. #forthechildren sounds like a good idea though.

This is a great idea and applicable for everyone, not just those with kids. You can write to the kids you plan to have in the future. You can write to others' kids. You can write to all kids, the next generation of kids who will inherent our world.
The shape of her face is similar to yours. Is she good at sitting still while being photographed? The look on her face seems both curious and apprehensive at the same time but very calmly and coolly taking stock of the situation.
Well, that's what sprang to my mind anyway.
My daughter was very bad at sitting still while photographed at a studio her mother and I took her to when she turned two. The photos turned out good but taking them felt like getting a vaccination.
She is terrible sitting for photos but for this there was a flash so I was able to get it somewhat sharp. We were just playing around and I took random photos at the same time. She is quiet when out but at home she is a curious little animal with a constant song of one kind or another.
Yes, she looks a lot like me... poor girl.
¡LoL! I really love 'the very few times' that I see you coming up with funny punch lines like this overflowing with that splendidly healthy sense of humor in all its seriousness that you stubbornly insist on hiding from us. :p
I do recognize a lot of what you write. I wrote diaries for all of my children so they are able to get know me by me, not by someone else. I do talk with them daily. We are close. I hope I will make it till my youngest turns 18. I would love to join you. I only need to add the tag #forthechildren?

This is a great idea - to leave a legacy and a reference point for your kids as they grow up.
I like this idea of a form of time capsule of knowledge and wisdom built by your own parents and family that you can dive into in times of need, guidance or comfort.
I wonder if you could also mix in video and audio so that they can get a feel for the emotion in your voice and expressions as you share your thoughts and learnings?

I really like the thoughts behind this tag as one will be leaving something behind for the next generation. It's true just how meaningful those cards and letters become when we lose lived ones way too early in life. So with this and other tags here on steemit our children's children could one day read our memoirs. Enjoy your gorgeous little daughter, believe you me, before you know it she will be all grown up, time passes by in the blink of an eyelid :)

I like this idea. Like you have done already, I recently created a page for my son. I hope if I ever find the time, I'll be able to post in the same way that you do for your daughter!

you think of something more brilliant for the future. something very rarely in mind by all parents. Blogs describe our identity and personality. This is a priceless legacy. I totally agree with your thoughts. I've also thought about this, but it's gone by itself. Thank you for sharing this. I am very proud of you.

But the thing is I'm not a parent (yet) but I have a lot on my mind I wish to tell my little ones. Can I also join the movement?
