Spreading Steem indirectly

in #steem5 years ago

One of the things that many don't necessarily realize about Steem is that it lays on the cutting edge of technology and despite its various teething problems, it is well positioned to be a dominant force in future internet content management. Hard to believe for many perhaps considering how slowly things happen and how much emphasis is put on the interface aspects but, UI is a layer that sits on top, a view of the chain, the real value is going to be under the hood which provides the possibility for just about anyone to build an interface that leverages the system.

What I predict in the future is much more user-friendly development tools that just like the online website builders like Wix or Wordpress kinds of services, there will be Steem application and interface builders so that laypeople can build their own style and businesses don't need developers to create interfaces that can access the chain and have access to the various benefits like the 3 second transfers. There will also be a huge market for analysis programs that can give granula feedback to websites.

What I also think is going to be a growing business on the back of fakenews territory are decentralized news sites that are able to take stories and attach real-time views from verified and traceable users who can provide information and images that can be verified by other users.

Of course, transparency is a big thing at Steem but what many people don't seem to think much about is how little there actually is in the real world. Part of the problem on Steem is that it mimics a lot of life and because of transparency of transaction, a lot of dirty laundry gets aired, scams and circlejerks uncovered. While people think this is prevelant on steem, in comparison to scam and cronyism of the real world, it is actually not too bad here. The problem is that most people have no sight of the real world and when they face the same behaviors here, it scares them, it makes them angry.

Just imagine if your Government transactions and dealings were all on a public ledger.

Another area related to transparency on Steem that causes current issues is of course the view of others wallets and earnings which creates a lot of jealousy and animosity in various ways. What many don't think much about though is that the conversation about earnings and value are being had here by people who in the walking world, would not be talking openly about their own earnings, not even with friends.

What is happening on Steem is a shifting of paradigms that people hold in various areas as questions are raised as various realities both new and old are viewed. The conversation that is going on here is well ahead of the curve at such a public and with such a diverse range of people and what we are working out is what the centralized organizations are going to struggle with.

What many people don't realize here is that there are business models in various fields that are trying to do what Steem is already doing, but they are struggling with the aspects Steem is slowly negotiating because they have to change public and social paradigms without creating fear in people as they need to still retain employees and sell their products. It is happening, but it is a very slow process they are facing.

There is so much opportunity here on Steem and even though people focus on the rudimentary UI and the lack of beauty in presentation, the blockchain itself can keep improving and at some point, the applications that make it easy to build on Steem will do their job. What I am hoping is that some clever devs will make a very easy plug and play interface builder that create websites and blogs and, the same thing that can be leveraged by businesses to do the same without having to hire specialized programmers, any website designer will do.

Once the developers realise how easy it is and that a normal website can be built upon it in much the same way except it has all of the capabilities of a blockchain-based business, they will help their customers tokenize their sites without Steem having to do it at all. Rather than just integrating credit card payment functionality, they could immediately add crypto transfers and because of the feeless transactions, could offer lower prices and of course, various other benefits for their customers.

What happens is that instead of Steem selling Steem, it has a whole lot of professional consultants selling the technology of it all over the world directly to their customers. That means that instead of people needing to find Steem and work out how it all works, they will have people they have already hired for site creation recommend it and train them on it at the level that suits their needs. They would also be adding new tools to make their services simpler more attractive for their direct clients.

There are many ways to spread ideas and technology and one of the beauties of Steem is that no one has to pay a licence fee to leverage and sell the technology itself. The decentralized nature of the community means that it has large reach and a growing pool of knowledgeable resources that can get the ball rolling and then, snowballing.

At some point, everyone wants the latest and greatest and Steem can also make itself the simplest. The blockchain and currency that has all of the benefits and can slot snuggly into the lives of what people are already doing on the internet.

Lots of potential here.

Another great read :)

The UI, steemit.com, really isn't the end game and moaning about issues is a tad short-sighted.

STEEM on the move today - stay low dammit!

Cheers, it is a bit all over the place I think people get the idea :)

Just think what a professional UI/UX team could put together.

Partiko already makes it better for me. I know there's more that can be done but it shows that Steem isn't confined to steemit.

there are definitely better options already but I am hoping for something that allows normal people to build on Steem drag and drop style.

Great write-up @tarazkp and great ideas.

I agree with a lot of your perspective but I think a UI upgrade for @steemit would be fairly easy and if it's combined with additional marketing, the image of Steem would improve by leaps and bounds.

After costs are reduced, @ned, @andrarchy and the @steemit team should definitely focus on upgrading @steemit's UI, improving the registration process like @steem.ninja did, and impliment a marketing plan that is driven and led by the Steem community!

The UI is easy to upgrade for the most part but it isn't easy to necessarily build one from scratch for a normal person. If there was a blockchain website builder that simplified the whole process, people could leverage the chain and still build something that anyone can use, on or off the chain.

I think @futureshock is working on this @tarazkp 😊

Yeah the open wallet concept is a trip. I think it is a good thing though. Steem does possess a bright future. Thanks @tarazkp

It is an interesting thing that makes people consider various aspects of finance and transparency they wouldn't think about otherwise.

I would live to tokenize my other blogs with the help of the Steem blockchain.

Imagine if it was a drag and drop function on a website builder.

I really dig your smart, well crafted blogs! Your positivity is awesome 👏🏼

My "united knowledge of programming makes grasping this a bit difficult.

Is the current UI all that difficult to be built on?

I don't think the interface is much of a problem, the connecting it to the various parts of the blockchain is not a drag and drop type of thing though, but it could be. ...I think :D

I think recent updates and the continued work on reducing the infrastructure costs would oave the way to your vision as developers can easily integrate more interfaces using the blockchain technology. Also, the Hivemind update is more community focus which could also provide the needed customization capabilities to have different interfaces built on top of it.

I think that there are factors now coming together that can influence developers to experiement wider than they have and perhaps attract some startup teams from larger organisations. I wonder what would happen if a few Google employees put some of their 20% time into developing here.

Another great post and perspective. I was trying to get onboard with the Engrave blog platform, but the developers didn't seem quite ready for action and their were some bugs and lack of communication.

"They would also be adding new tools to make their services simpler & more attractive for their direct clients" ... that would be huge!

I heard about it and went there early on but it wasn't close to ready at that point. I will revisit and see.
