Smooth sailing

I heard Bitcoin is up today - Bought a yacht yet?

I got a bit of a migraine at work today and came home early for a rest, a rest is almost as good as a yacht I imagine.

I was just talking with Asher a little about getting old and how we are on our way (Not as far along as @meesterboom though - but who is?). In the current cryptosphere, getting old is both a blessing and a curse as on average, it more likely comes with some level of experience that helps with understanding that provides a more consistent approach and an investor mindset but, it also means that the real benefits are likely not going to be seen until we are old and decrepit.

Well, ten years is not too far away but at that stage, I am going to be 50 and while I believe now I will be very glad with the results at that point, the massive changes are going to take place in the following decades to come, and likely, much further down the path than I am going to get.

Think about all of the people who were instrumental in the develop of the internet but never actually saw the technology adopted by the masses, nor how it has fundamentally changed the possibilities of life. Just think, one can view a cat video from anywhere on earth. Progress.

But, evolution of humanity is always incremental, as for the most part, evolution of all things is as they adapt to the small changes in the environment until one day generations in the future are able to live in quite extreme changes in the environment. This is the way of the world though I think and while a single life may not get very fire along the learning path, multiple lives stacked upon one another can travel great distances, both physically and socially.

When it comes to the future of humanity, it is pretty easy to predict how people will behave in 5 years but it is much harder to predict it 500 years from today or how understanding through compounded experience and technological revolution will affect it. Will it be better or worse?

It is hard to say depending on outlook and while there are similarities in some behaviors that are perhaps always going to be somewhat present, life now compared to 500 years ago is very, very different. Better? Again that depends on perspective but most people keep theirs narrow and do not factor in all the things that they do not know or understand just how it actually was. What was it like to live during the times of the bubonic plague in Europe? Black death doesn't sound like, "fun times".

The predictions we make of the future are very heavily influenced by our short-lived experience of the world up until this point and cannot factor in the inventions of tomorrow, let alone 100 years from today. What this means is depending on our own circumstances in the moment, based on what we carry from the past - we think we know what is going to happen.

It is a belief system, nothing more and while some predictions will be accurate, the sheer volume of predictions that are inaccurate would show that people are just guessing, throwing a dart in the dark. This is the same for me too as while I think that it is going to take a fair bit of time for crypto to make significant enough moves to benefit me at the level I would want, it could very well happen in months or years.

Who knows what other aspects are going to get involved? What would happen to bitcoin mining if tomorrow an alternate free and non-polluting source of energy was discovered that could be utilized by all? It is unlikely to happen tomorrow - maybe the day after though.

What I wonder is that if everyone was able to buy a yacht, a Lambo and a mansion, who would actually want those things? They are valuable because they are scarce and once ubiquitous, those with the means will look for something that is rare - a painting, a skill or - *an experience.

The last is what I am looking forward to in the somewhat near future, a change in experience for me and my family. The change doesn't have to cost a lot but it has to be sustainable for more than a moment of instant gratification. That is my want though, not everyone's and there will be plenty of people who will take the as expected pathways, just as there always has been too. What is expected is obviously going to change just when one appears and has the opportunity to do so on the timeline though.

What would you do if you suddenly had all the means to do as you choose? What would you have done under the same circumstances 500 years ago? What will people do in 500 years from now?

Who knows, we only have this life to live which is inherited from others and how we behave will be passed on to the generations to come.

OMGZ!?! I'm only young, in my late thirties surely!!!

;0)

This is why moisturising is important.

There is something to be said for that, you should see me next to my unmoisty brother...

I think I am the moistless one in my family :D

This will be you in a couple of years then... :0P

Not too far off now...

it also means that the real benefits are likely not going to be seen until we are old and decrepit.

Hey! @tarazkp are you flinging complimenting & flattery sycophancy or something on Boom & me tonite?

Never forget that the real beauty of aging hard workers always will be that: "The one who laughs last, laughs best"

so....

¡No Problem! ;)

Lols. Both of you should know better.... :D

Yeah getting old is not for wimps. Just like with the crypto industry aging comes with a cost. 1 it's all a trade-off and the journey. Hope your migraine goes away. @tarazkp

All a trade-off is a funny way to put it in this context :D

No yachts, thanks. Two happiest days in a boat owner's life are;
The day he buys it, and the day he sells it.

The 2L Kawasaki Vulcan will do me just fine.
#whylambo

Yachts can be rented for a couple days in the Whitsundays.

For me it would be a nice, sensible electric car.

I am a tad older than Boom. If you had to put us next to each other though I think I would look younger. It must have something to do with the genes and those dodgy beers he drinks on Saturdays.

Ha, beer definitely doesn't do wonders for well, anything. I was thrown out of Australia for not drinking enough beer.

I can well believe that. I saw the spectators at the cricket matches are limited to only 18 for the day. If I had 18 beers I wouldn't know where I was.

Getting old doesn’t mean getting decrepit. Some people get hit by a bus before the decrepit happens. Not many but some.

Asher is old and decrepit before his time. It happens, percentages. Its all about the percentage. ;)

Wealth is built over generations and lost in a generation.

The bus of dreams...

Asher is very tall, the air up at his height is too thin too support much life.

Wealth is built over generations and lost in a generation

I am looking to build, the process is valuable.

Aaaahhhh, I see . The Lack of oxygen explains a lot.

There are a few who when saying long term, have generations in mind.

After returning from the family vacation and back at the challenges of a desk job, I would surely opt for experiences and sharing with the family as we explore the world instead of the routines we build ourselves into!

I would just live off the interest of my wealth if I could. No need for anything fancy, just to pay for a house, insurance, food, and a little for extra curriculars without needing to break into the investment captial.

True wealth to me is spending time at home with my kids and building a business on the side. Not saying it wont be hard work but a lifestyle that allows me to prioritize my family above anything else is what Im working towards.
