When you stand at your window and look out, what do you see? Is it important what the view is?

I have always wanted a house with an ocean view but I wonder if I would take the time to appreciate it. I used to live a street back from a tropical beach but didn't spend anywhere near the time there as I would have expected. Maybe it was age or maturity but I wonder if it is just that when something is there, we are programmed to assume it always will be.

I wonder if people really take advantage of the things they use to justify a purchase. Location, location, location but they rarely leave the house to enjoy what the location offers. Location is important however for resale to the next person who will rarely leave the house.

Many of us have created ideals and expectations of what we require to be happy in life, try to achieve our list and are disappointed with anything we do not have, the things we failed to collect. Very rarely do we take a step back and question whether what we want we actually want and if we had them, would we appreciate them.

The last few years I have been trying to do this, trying to scale back the nonsense items I do not really require. Not aiming for a minimalist life but taking the time to think before buying and filling the available space. I have found that I have collected a lot of lovely trash over the years, things I thought would be useful or good to have only for it to sit in a draw, tucked in a corner or packed away in the storage. It seems a waste of resources. Not just mine, everyone's.

Have you ever thought about the view out of other people's windows? When you do imagine it, is it the view of someone that has more than you, or less? This beautiful view is from Milan in Italy. How many people wake up there and not spend time appreciating it each day?

Thanks for providing context along with the awesome photo!

I can see trees out my window. Two of the trees are the perfect distance apart to put my hammock between on warm and lazy days, but mostly I just stare at the leaves and branches over breakfast, watching how they change throughout the year. I love being able to see a piece of nature through the window, as opposed to staring into a neighbor's wall.

For me, location is the most important part of my residence - I'd pay extra for a peaceful environment without a stressful commute - but I agree that some people are terrible at analyzing their priorities. Hell, I still might be one of them haha.

Seeing trees from a window is a luxury many do not have and are unlikely to ever experience. It is interesting to think about how staring at a wall, slum or industrial complex each day effects the mind.

Even though in an apartment building, I have sky and trees with birds that play in them. I count myself lucky.

Exactly! I'm in an apartment building, too, and am always in awe at how nice it is. It even has a patio where the tree branches arch overhead, and the sunlight that comes down through the leaves makes everything glow green. Many people can only dream of such a place.

Good photography. Please vot for vot.
