Industrial art unedited

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Not far from my home is an industrial complex that was an old paper mill for several generations. This year the council decided to invite graffiti artists to come in and paint legally for a week and the invitations attracted some international artists also.

They have been painting for a couple of days now and have progressed quite a long way. As you can see from the equipment, they got pretty serious and brought in cherry pickers to get up high. They are in safety harnesses too. They are painting all surfaces and using the crumbling and torn apart factory as inspiration for the designs. It is pretty cool.

I talked to one of the artists as he was white washing a lump of concrete wall and asked what the deal was. He had to sign in with the police to get permission. This means, no one puts their artist names on the art.

I will go back in a couple days to see how it has progressed but these are unedited from today. My daughter's bedroom and my office are one and the same and I have no editing tools on this laptop. so you will have to make do with crooked, uncropped images :) I will just post them in a series. Most are taken with a cheap fish-eye 9mm lens as it was the only way to get enough in frame as the alleys were tight. Enjoy!
