Blue skies and lines

Without a cloud the reference is lost as happiness falls upon hard times,
Nothing changes and the problem may be; accomplishment fails to shine
There were moments that all seemed working and all seemed to be true
But there one was without the other - and that other was meant to be you

And nowhere to be seen and no sounds arrived to hint where one may hide
A crown of thorns worn drew blood, but absence was the spear in the side
Alone and lonely are disconnected even though they often are seen paired
It isn't the company of many that is needed but, the intimacy of time shared

On the sands we fell, pushed through the hourglass of what was held askew
Pulled apart by the universe itself that wanted other than the join of us two
Lives so close but running parallel, too close will never be enough for a meet
Traffic flowing and endlessly on, two hearts on opposing sides of the street

The lanes that separated a few feet apart an eternity in a lifetime of crimes
Happiness we left for another path leading forever down toward dark mines
The decisions are made for us for how else can we explain such poor choice
Facing the inevitability of who we truly may be, as prisoners without a voice

You laugh and play and you swing wild with your words but all know the lies
From across the road and sight unseen the dull of lonely appears in your eyes
No matter the distance between us or how your hands try to cover your face
Look out, above, across and down and there I'll be waiting for you every place
