Bedroom confessions: Behind bars

No, this isn't my first NSFW post. I am here humming Summertime waiting for my daughter to fall asleep properly, she is very restless. As I have said earlier in the week, we have all been a little under the weather lately.

I took the photo about an hour ago in the city on a run to the only open pharmacy in the region. The fence is in the main street and separates the pedestrians from the roadworks for the tram construction. I am glad they are putting in the tram but, there are better ways available and with self-driving vehicles on the horizon, much cheaper options.

The reason they can't really change their plans though is that this has taken literally 100 years to get started. Every change requires a new round of approval and every complaint gets addressed, no matter how invalid.

One argument from a nationalist party member was that the tram ride would be so enjoyable people will spend their days riding it instead of getting jobs. Another from the same party was that it would increase suicide attempts. Maybe those arguments tell more about their view of their own supporters than any real concerns.

How we view our world and the people in it obviously has a large effect on how we treat people and experience life. For some, everything is negative, others drama while a few enjoy what comes. In Finland, the view is that life is something that must be endured, not enjoyed and enjoyment for many comes from a bottle.

Thankfully though, this is changing and people are rediscovering the beauty of nature and, using their hands to make something. Not many perhaps but maybe by the time my daughter is old enough to go out into the world alone, the norm could be one of creativity and development. None of that just happens though, there is no such thing as a future fact although, there are possibilities and probabilities.

But, that can be for later. My daughter fell asleep now and my wife is waiting on the couch so we can watch something together. It has been so many months since the last time that I don't even remember what we watched.

The way we decide the World is, is entirely up to us. Always seeing just the negative is a sure way to rob oneself of a meaningful life

Enjoy your evening together!

Hi taraz. It is amazing when you have small kids you know where the 24 hour pharmacy is. I have done that run before on many occasions. Have a good evening, I am sure I will see some more posts tonight as you sneak off for a toilet break.

There is no 24 hour pharmacy here, it closes at 11 pm. It is a bit ridiculous really as then the only option is the emergency room. I will post more later :D

To find beauty in the mundane or everyday is well worth the effort. One should find an inner peace within themselves to recognize the less obvious beauty. Thanks for sharing.

Lots of interesting things to do and see when there is nothing interesting going on :)

I've always heard about the high suicide rates in some developed countries and I can't believe it, @tarazkp. I feel that perfect societies, where the economy is good, education and culture are at a good level, should not exist these problems. I also feel that there is a lot of work without rest, without socializing, without having a few beers on the weekend or a glass of wine in the company of friends, activities that can make life easier and less tiring. It's nice that you take a valuable moment to be with your girl and hopefully your daughter will soon recover from her discomfort! Nice Saturday;)

It is high here and I think it is because things are so easy that many people don't really have to face much hardship early in life. Here a major problem is a lack of social depth.

howdy sir tarazkp! ha! politicians..they are the same everywhere with their endless talk and constantly needing more money for projects.
But in Finland life is just viewed as something to endure? I hope that changes with the new generations because that fatalistic view is depressing and Finland is a great country!

Surely there are things to be optimistic about?

Here, it is mostly some politicians. It is a weird dynamic in Finland I think. Finland is a country full of depressives, perhaps it is the winter weather :)

howdy back tarazkp! wow that's surprising to me but if that's the case then there must be alot of alcoholism?

A very high percentage. Something like 450k have registered issues and the population is only 5.5 million in total. Take out the children and it means up to 20% have some form of abuse.

oh man! well what is a way to decrease depression and increase contentment and happiness? get everyone on steemit? lol.

Really great and it has charmed me a lot.

Lovin the posts!
