Animals and ice creams
Today was another scorcher (in the mid-twenties) and we decided to do something a bit different as a family. In Finland there are quite a few farmyard animal kinds of places and we decided to drive to one about 50 kilometers from us where they have a range of animals, some sheep to pet as well as some extra activities for little kids.
It was warm, but @smallsteps didn't mind jumping around in the heat.
Then there were all sots of animals including a couple of ostriches that wandered around their enclosure looking rather scary close up. Ever seen under an ostriches' wings? It is a thing of Jurassic nightmares. But there were a couple cute animals too including some hamsters and rabbits.
And the less cute.
I was also surprised to see some Steem-themed animals.
Upvote me please deer.
Quite wary at first, @smallsteps finally warmed to handing the sheep blades of grass and then was brave enough to have them eating out of her hand. I am quite confident that 30 years from now, the human sheep will be in much the same position.
I am always surprised at how she doesn't seem to have much of a judgement on what is pretty or not, and thinks that these chicks here were just as cute as the wild boar. She tends to take accept everything as it was created, I am not sure how long that will last.
And as you can see, here is another Steem-themed animal - wondering where the bullrun is? Sitting in the shade not caring much about what you think.
There were also some electric quad-bikes that she enjoyed cruising around at a crawl on and learning how to turn it where she wanted it to go. Once she got the hang of it, she was overly confident and even at a crawl, I was a concerned father for the future. Self-driving cars aren't that far away though - right?
Perhaps the best part of the day was what would normally be one of the simple pleasures on a hot day - an ice cream. This was @smallsteps first ever and she shared it with her mother. All that was in it was raspberry juice and sugar - probably a lot of sugar, but this is not going to be a norm by any means. So far it seems that it was okay with her stomach at least.
It has been a really nice weekend and for once, the focus has been on us as a family together which has been rare in the last I don't know how long. Hopefully we will be ale to spend some more weekends like this if the weather continues.
This week my wife and I have a night off in Helsinki together to see Ed Sheeran in concert which was my Valentines gift to her, and at the end of the week we will likely end up at the in-laws' cottage in the country for a night or two and perhaps go to a zoo nearby that has a much larger range of animals and is set in the forest.
Let's see what Steem has been up to today.

There is plenty of fun to be had along the journey and with enough awareness, kids are awesome :)
Lol they are. I am amazed more than I'm frustrated. And even though I miss the freedom. I can't imagine my life without this little bugger!

An awesome day that reminds us why we do the things we do!
It was a lot of fun and @smallsteps loved it all.
You mean a chilly rainy season night?
Glad y’all had a great day. :)
yep, exactly.
I think I got burned :D
Yay for finally being able to have ice cream! Glad it's being nice to her poor little stomach :)
And don't sweat about the driving too much, kids that age just feel a need to randomly weave for whatever reason (perhaps they like the sensation, maybe all those adult hoons with delusions that they're rally drivers weren't allowed to get it out of their system as toddlers? XD). Once they start riding bikes and stuff they very quickly learn to drive straight. And I've let my eldest park the car in the driveway (have yet to do that with the other two but middle child is most deifnitely tall enough now if she wnts to try), he thought driving was easy til he attempted that one simple operation and then he stopped outside the carport and refused to park inside because he wasn't confident judging the distance between the nose of the car and the back of the carport XD
Having said that I'm looking forward to self-driving cars because I'm worried about youngest and driving x_x
Have fun at the concert :D
The best thing about Finland in the winter is - how useful the handbrake is to turn a car ;D
I remember when I was a bout twelve driving my granddad's car around our yard (big yard in the country) when no one was home. It was a lot of fun.
Nice post, deer. :)
