An audience to remember

in #steemit9 years ago (edited)

The stage was set
Curtains remained closed
In the darkness they sat
Expectation rose
A price had been paid
For what, they knew not
A guess likely made
For kettle or pot

Random his nature
Random his thoughts
Of unknown stature
From unknown courts
The tickets were free
But he tried his best
To entertain or see
Maybe throw some vests

Sometimes came praise
Often too complaint
Many questions raised
Never a saint
Often confused
Much trouble and strife
Help the abused
Struggle through life

To twist a mind
To wander a story
For someone to find
Their hidden glory
Hoping for much
Working day and night
Removing the crutch
Of limited sight

Feedback arrives
Sometimes comes applause
Onward he strives
Looking for open doors
Through darkened maze
Trying many a lock
Stumbling in haze
Racing the clock

They sat and they waited
What will be will be
Will it be fated
We will see, we will see
Across river and ice
And many a bend
Seated firmly in place
Many a friend.

I never really know in advance what I am going to post for the day. I start a lot of drafts that never make it or they get pushed aside, and sometimes I begin with one intention and it ends up something completely different. Yes, I write a lot and I enjoy it yet, I am also very grateful for the rewards I may get.

I have a lot of faith that Steem and Steemit has a bright future even though at times I question many aspects of it. The community here is diverse with many talents within it, some open on display, others hidden away for now. In time, these people will find ways to link together for the long-term and realise some of the potential inherent in the system.

There are lots of changes coming in the near future, lots of things that will continually shake the apple tree. Personally, I am trying to work my way into a position where I can be more than an overzealous content provider and be more active in shaping parts of the system or at least, having a voice somewhere. This of course takes time, work and support to learn and get the space for opportunities to be grabbed onto.

Part of this process is trying to help others take a long-term view of the platform as it is only when enough of that talent pulls together across the various boundaries, that something really brilliant could come about.

Out of the 1500 odd followers, I have had a chance to get to know some of you quite well through blogs, comments and steemit.chat. Time is always limited but I will continue to try to make the time to answer or help those who are truly looking to be part of the community here by adding their talents and voice into the mix.

So, thank you to all of the people who have supported me the last ten months in many different ways. I am not going to tag anyone but there are many who I am very grateful to.

Thank you again,

Taraz

You're welcome.

The style and the rime
With a poet of mine
Looks almost alike!

The "Dungeons of Egna"
are epic enough
Waiting to be sought
But by whom would be walked?

I like that you write posts not having to do with the cryptocurrencies... but with real life stuff.

enjoyed the poem and the post! Due to you and your posts here as well as some other gems - and the fact that some steemians just meet in my area face to face (me included), I am starting to be a little more faithful right now... but as you described it well in your post - things have to sort out, still... I did realize that - for the first time- there is only "Taraz" and no "a steemit original" this time... something seems to have changed... Cheers from the Seven Mountains in Germany

I thought putting Steemit original there was a bit weird but I did just create it :D

I have faith.

Well it is your "brand" and usual "goodbye" slogan :-)

Great post. You serve as an excellent example for beginning poets on Steemit.

I am definitely not going to win any awards :D
