3.22580645: A personal milestone

3.22580645, I went to eight decimal places for symbolic reasons but weirdly, this is a personal milestone number for me. I have been at Steemit for 310 days which makes 3.22580645 my average. This right here will be my 1000th article post on the Steemchain.

What I have found is I really enjoy writing. A lot. In those 1000 posts I have written around one million words, which translates into 10 x 400 page books. I find this quite incredible considering the kind of student I was once upon a time.

I have really come to enjoy Steemit much more than I thought I would and it has afforded me some unique possibilities I do not think I could get anywhere else, or would not be motivated enough to get into.

Being here has opened me up to myself through a public exploration of my mind, a fantastically diverse range of people who challenge and support me and of course, cryptocurrencies which are both a source of pleasure and pain.

I got into this to support my daughter and wife through some very hard times we were facing but soon realised that the potential here outweighed the short-term gains I might get. This is an ongoing discussion with me wife but it always ends the same way, struggle now for future potential. We are thinking long-term.

It is tempting to think about where this might lead in the future with $5, $10, $50, $100 Steem prices but the future is ultimately uncertain. All I have is the present to act in and what will come will come. Dealing with this uncertainty has become relatively easy for me over time.

Uncertainty is where most people avoid and therefore, where the gains are made. Yes, potential losses also and there is plenty of risk but, where else can I get the same potential by doing something I love, around people who have become extended family, in an industry that is in its infancy and looks set to dominate the narrative over the coming years?

Long-term is where it is at and in the crypto-sphere, long isn't that long. People work their entire lives hoping for an opportunity like this to come along but when it does, few are prepared to seize it. Here we all have a soft start and can all explore and support each other to find better ways to grow.

It is because of this potential I sit here day and night on little sleep to do all I can to add value. Yes, I look to add value to myself too but the best way to do this is a split approach where I help myself by helping others. There are many ways to be part of the community here and I am always looking for more.

Mostly though, I look to add value by hopefully helping people connect their skillset with their approach to their experience. There are so many possibilities and methods for people to interact with the blockchain and leave their unique fingerprints and so mush space to move. The ones that do this well, think through their content and match their actions with a long-term view of Steem, will benefit greatly I think.

From the biggest whale to the smallest minnow, we all have a chance to build something useful, valuable and beneficial for each of us. Think big, Talk straight, Work hard. All of these little actions we make can add up to create large movements.
