The ants and the grasshopper

Once there was a grasshopper living in the fields. He loved hopping about, chirping and singing that everyone could here him.

One summer day he was sitting on a rock, singing so loudly that everyone in the field could here him. At this moment a group of ants walked by, grunting under the kernels of corn they where carrying.

Surpirsed at what they where doing the grasshopper got off his rock and asked
"Where are you going with those heavy things?"

While marching on the first and replied:
"We are collecting and storing food for the winter."

Not interested the grasshopper answered him:
"Come and have some fun and sing with me. Working so hard just isn't that much fun."

"We are preparing for the winter when food is very scarce to find. I think you should do the same."

"Winter is far way, we have nothing to fear about." said the grasshopper bravely.

But little did he know that winter is just around the corner.

Winter came and covered all the food under the snow that not even the grasshopper could dig to find the food.

He was very hunger and with his pride in his hands he went to the ants to ask for some food.

They gladly gave the grasshopper food to eat and do you know what...

During the summer the grasshopper helped the ants to gather and store some food for the next winter to come.
The grasshopper was so busy playing around and singing all summer long that he didn't plan on gathering and storing food.

Don't forget -- there is a time for work and a time for play!

There is a time for work and a time for play.

Make a grasshopper using eggcartons

You will need the following:

1. Egg cartons
2. Scissors
3. Pipe Cleaners
4. Paint
5. Eyes

Instructions

1. Hand out three egg cartons stuck together to a learner.
2. Paint the egg cartons.
3. Paste the eyes.
4. Make holes with the pipe cleaners for the antennas and the feet.
5. Bend the pipe cleaners so that they could stand right.
