Wat Umong, an amazing temple in Chiang Mai, in the North of Thailand
Wat Umong is one of the most important ancient temples in Chiang Mai, in the North of Thailand.
It’s the meditation tunnels that make this temple different from other temples. They are amazing and can attract people to visit this temple.
The temple’s name, “Umong” means “tunnel”.
It’s the wisdom of our ancient people to build such tunnels for meditation. The tunnels work well and have peaceful atmosphere. Walking in the tunnels can calm our minds indeed.
The decorations of the lights along the path make the tunnels look more impressive.
The tunnels are parts of the ancient cave.
You can see how old the tunnels are via the walls and ceiling…
Apart from meditation purpose, we get into the tunnels to worship the ancient Buddha statues and ask for their blessing. They are magnificent and look sacred.
At the outside of the tunnels, you will see a large pagoda that is unpainted.
It looks outstanding with the bright blue sky and surrounding with nice nature.
If you visit Chiang Mai, you must not miss Wat Umong…
