My daughter's room

I had plans to paint the rest of the room blue, but my parents are insisting that the wood on the walls must stay untouched. I tried to explain to my Dad that our generation doesn't like wooden walls, but I think I just came across sounding naiive. Apparently the wood is not paneling (I didn't know there was a difference?!), but rather, hand carved/cut/sanded individual pieces. My Dad claims that the reason you don't see it anymore is because it costs a fortune -- think custom wood floors, but for your walls. He gave us a lot to think about. My heart says we need to paint the wood (the knots look messy to me), but my head says leave it alone for resale value.

Regardless of what we do with the wood, her room is very unique. The original owners custom built bunkbeds into the wall. The round windows are supposed to look like submarine windows, because the room used to be decorated with a nautical theme. There is even a submarine peep hole on her door, which is convenient for us to use at night to check on her.

I think the room still needs a little chandelier over the chair like we had in our last house. I will pick that up on my next trip to Ikea!
