Give a Little, Get a Lot!

I'm quite pleased to report that I had a profound reassurance today of "what goes around, comes around," or whatever you want to call it.

I always try to be a generous person. I'm not here to write my brag book, but whenever an opportunity presents itself, I'm always up for sparing a dollar or two. We make Easter baskets and pack backpacks every year for less fortunate children and adopt someone at Christmas time. I've always believed very firmly that it's not my job to judge or analyze one's situation, but to "give" from the heart. So there's my little soapbox moment.

Anyway, this past couple of weeks I had a few more significant opportunities to "give." I did my usual "dollars" here and there. My hubby and I gave a homeless man some cash. Finally, when shopping for the child I adopted to buy presents for this year, I spent a little more than I had planned, but just told myself it was a worthy cause.

Now, obviously no one knew of my "good deeds" nor did I necessarily win because of them. But I do believe if you send good out into the universe, it will come back to you in one way or another.

I know some of you may scoff and say my head is in the clouds. That's okay. I know that the payback comes in many forms; a returned smile, a free coffee, health and happiness... My point is this - tomorrow is "Pay It Forward Day." Go out there and do something nice for someone, even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone. If you so choose to, stretch out across a week. Do as much good as you can, and see what happens.

Oh yeah - and let me know about your random acts of kindness! Even tired moms can do a lot of good :)
