Color my thoughts

in #handmade10 years ago

I think color can be such an uplifting source of inspiration, and this impressive little clip from the very ambitious Let’s Color project confirms that  I’m certainly not alone in thinking so.

In their words: “This 2 minute global film was shot by multi-award winning director Adam Berg over four weeks in Brazil, France, London and India. Every location is real and they remain transformed by a palette consisting of 120 different colours. The people in the film are not actors, they are real people who rolled up their sleeves to transform their community with colour.”Since I work from home, I like finding little ways to paint a little color into our apartment, especially now that summer weather makes me wish I could be outside all day, everyday, keeping the sun company.  Here are a few of the resulting little pockets of color:… a seat cover I made for a vintage chair with an old embroidered Mexican dress.  I did a guest post over at my friend Elsie’s blog, A Beautiful Mess, explaining the process. Take a look if you think you might like to try doing something similar!

…a string of bunting to hang on the wall, made after digging through my (huge) stash or fabric scraps.

To me its a like a bright little storybook of past projects. The sheer green and yellow fabrics are from pastel colored Toulouse tops I made in the spring, and once upon a time I used the Louis Vuitton print to line the hood of a bright pink sweater .

… a little glass full of paint swatches – fun to play around with, use as bookmarks or write little roommate notes on.

… semi-transparent wrapping for a little romper so its polka dots could peek through.

… and a handful of blueberries in cornbread batter.

Thank you for attention :)
