DIY Table Numbers
Hello everyone,
today I did one interesting and very beautiful project, that I wanted to share with you.
You all know by now that my wedding is getting closer, and that means all the preparations are coming to an end. Decoration of the restaurant is one of those preparations. We had two choices, to hire someone to do it, or to make at least some of it on our own. We opted for the second choice, because it's more budget friendly, it's so interesting and memorable to do. So, let me show you how I made these table numbers.
First, you will need to decide what bottles to use, I love white wine so I choose one of my favorites, made in Montenegro. You can by all means choose a different bottle, beverage or design. I loved this one, it's simple yet very effective, and goes so well with our venue.
I would say that the hardest part of this project was taking off the original stickers of the bottles. I didn't just want to put mine over the existing ones, I wanted it to look like it was packed that way. So, you will need to do the following:
- Remove as much as you can by peeling the stickers;
- Make a mixture of equal parts of baking-soda and oil;
- Apply the mixture and leave it and least one hour;
Then, you will need to wash the bottles with warm (hot) water and rub of any excess glue or paper. Use some washing detergent and scrubbing sponge, if some extra force is needed call for help :) After drying them off, I used rubbing alcohol and tissue paper to eliminate any residue oils, so that new stickers go on easy and stay on.
All that is left is too glue on new stickers. I decided to take the theme that was on our wedding invitations, but make it a bit more rustic looking and worn down. There are numbers on each side of the bottle, one small one and one big on the back. I used the original placement of the stickers as an inspiration.
I love the end result, and we are going to make one just for us to keep it as a memory (and maybe drink it after 10 years of marriage).
What to you think? Do you like DIY stuff or prefer to buy finished products? Be sure to leave me a comment!
With love,
Tamara
