Love Where You Live? I do!
Over the last three years of living in this beautiful part of the UK I am always amazed at the wealth of community and cultural activity that happens here, in Kent, 'The Garden of England'. Rochester where I live is steeped in history and famous for the great Charles Dickens penning novels here.
There are some fantastic yearly events here. Below are some photos of one of these, The Sweeps Festival.
Where people dress up in all manner of costumes and the High Street is packed with visitors. Many of the houses here are hundreds of years old and would have needed sweeps to keep the chimneys clean.
People also dress up in Dickensian costumes. I just love the theatre of this couple ......
...... and Miss Haversham!!
There is also the opportunity for Steam Punks to show off their finery. I may even go to the next festival dressed like this!! Such fun :)))
The day has to be finished off at the funfair in the castle grounds. How lucky am I to live in Rochester? I absolutely LOVE where I live.
I hope you have enjoyed these. I'd love you to follow me ... and any votes would be brilliant. Thank you.
