What is Deep web and Dark web?

What's up fellow steemians! Hope y'all are healthy and safe. Do you know that the web you use is only the 4% of the total internet of the World Wide Web that exists. Yes, its true. This is called the Surface web which is a portion of the WWW that is available to the public. It is also called the Visible web, Indexed web or Lightnet. The 96% if the World Wide Web is the Deep Web or Invisible web or hidden web. The content on the deep web are not indexed by standard web search engines. The content is hidden and can be accessed by a direct URL or IP address, which may require specific security access past the public website.
And there is the Dark Web. It constitutes 6% of the deep web. It is a part which exists on darknets, overlay networks which use the internet but specific software, configurations or authorization to access.

The darknets which comprise the dark web includes small peer-to-peer networks, as well as large networks like Tor,Freenet or 12P managed by public organizations or individuals. The most popular network is the Tor network which may be referred to as onionland, as the network's top level domain .onion and the anonymous technique of onion routing.

Identities and location of darknet users stay anonymous because of the layered encryption system and hence cannot be tracked. Due to this high level of encryption, websites cannot track the geolocation and the IP addresses of the users, and users aren't able to get info about the hosts. So, the communication between the users is encrypted which allows them to talk, chat or share files confidentially.

The dark web is also used for illegal activities such as trading drugs, arms, hacking, media exchange for terrorists. In a research, it was found that the common hosted content was child pornography. The dark web uses Bitcoin as a payment method beacuse of its highly encrypted nature. Many hackers sell their services over the darknet either individually or as a part if group. There are also reports of assassinations or hiring hitmen over the dark web. But most of them were hoaxes and were done in order to steal money from people. Other contents includes torture and killing of animals and revenge porn.
The deep web is a place of mystery. There are lots of things we still don't know about the Deep web. Internet sure is a mystery, no one knows what the real thing could be.
