Resignation is not the same as acceptance

When something happens that we don't expect, we often don't know how to react: should I accept it or do I fight against it? Is it something good for my evolution or is it one more test that I must overcome? Is it a sign that I'm not going that way... or is it not? What should I do, what's best for me? There is so much uncertainty in those moments that our head gets dazed by so many questions.

In theory, the first thing we should always do is to accept what is happening, no matter how hard it is, it is something that already is, we can not do anything against it, if we resist we will only be blocking our mind to the possible options that are available. When we accept, we are able to face, and in turn to seek solutions that favor us, which does not happen if we avoid.

To accept is indispensable in the search to be happy with what we have, it is to find the way to solve, within the framework of what we are living, to be able to adapt to new conditions that make us find the balance and feel good. In these cases, it is useful to see the positive side of the situation and learn to understand things as they are. As opposed to resignation, in which people simply continue to live with the situation that affects them so much, without even trying to face it, subjecting themselves to prolonged suffering, a kind of sacrifice, which is a form of self-punishment that is good for us. Accept, yes; resign ourselves, no.



Our attitude must be constructive and we must be part of the solution, things are not solved by themselves, and being something that affects us we must do our part, which does not necessarily mean that the other person must do something to make us feel good; usually we are the ones who must do something to feel good. Improving something always implies a change, because if we want different results, we must do different things.

By controlling our emotionality a little and looking at situations objectively, we can optimize our ability to find solutions, using known tools, a good attitude and respecting all parties. Sometimes when we do not tolerate things and we are unhappy, it is because we need to check ourselves, to know why we feel this way in front of something external. Maybe there is something that is really bothering us about ourselves that we need to change.

So instead of spending days, months, years or a lifetime resenting the terrible things that happen to us, it is better to try to accept them and see the best way to deal with them, finding from the possible options we can see, which is the one we would feel more comfortable with. By dealing with and overcoming each situation, we become stronger and feel fuller, without leaving some unresolved issues behind. We have come to this world to be happy in the best possible way, let's not give up on that.
