If Escher Visited St. Louis

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

While I don't normally post any photography, this was just too fun to not share. Earlier in the week I was near downtown St. Louis and took this shot with my cell phone from the 13th floor. While playing with some filters, this just sort of happened.

Sort:

Because of our recent talk about AI, this made me think about Prisma. Seeing stuff from different perspective is just so awesome!

That app is pretty slick! It's definitely interesting on the effects those perspective changes have on us. It's somewhat like the art version of the copy-pasta/spin bots we saw writing articles on here some months back.

It's great right? :D Using machine learning to generate the different filters is what really interested me. The technology behind it is amazing!

I don't know much about photography, but this is a very cool effect.

I'm in the same boat, not having much photography knowledge.
Thank you! I thought so too! I was playing with the Escher filter and really liked the middle ground where it showed the lines but kept little bits of color in spots.

Where in the world is this in downtown St Lou?
-near the ballpark?
-near Washington Blvd?
-Central West End
-Grand near SLU?
Very cool lil pic. Thank u for sharing!

This was near Forest Park...in the Barnes Jewish Hospital complex. I think I was looking South out that window.

This was the original pic:

Thank you!

Wow! Now I recognize the skyline. Yes, I've walked below there many times down Euclid from the Metro Station to The Improv Shop. Hope your STL is treating you well.

The filter impressively changed it up quite a bit, I wouldn't have recognized it myself without the original.

The Lou has been alright so far, getting little wins knocked out here and there so far. Still needing that last big one of full time job, but sure that will happen soon. :)

if i may be so humble as to share some info
http://www.startherestl.org/
http://www.slpl.org/
https://stlouis.craigslist.org/
all kinds of help at the library.
i've found some sweet temp gigs and seen some nice full times on the craigslist lately. i almost pulled the trigger on applying for some private airline at the airport and there's lots of aerospace companies happening up that way as well if your into that sort of thing. STL has lots of sorts of things. All that aside, i'm impressed with how helpful the Libraries can be. On a side note, i've done some chatting up Steemit there as well. If you ever need an boost of joy, i also humbly suggest The Improv Shop which is right down the road from that wonderful photo you shared. Shows are cheaper than a fancy coffee at Kaldi's. theimprovshop.com. Wishing you all the best! Keep sharing your adventures here in the River City.

TY for the great info! I'll definitely look into those!
The improv shop looked really sweet...I'm hoping to make it down there to check it out. It def helps having an idea of where it's at since I'm already oriented to Barnes. :)

Thank you! And thanks for the tweet!
