Bitcoin twitter war update 3/11/08
When I Google "bitcoin" Google responds with a box with 3 current news articles and then below that a box with 6 Twitter blurbs. They always include a generic @Bitcoin tweet to the effect that "bitcoin cash is the original bitcoin." Its obviously not true. Everyone involved in cryptocurrency knows bitcoin cash is a fork of bitcoin, not that there's anything wrong with that. But they have a following that chooses to misrepresent themselves as the only real bitcoin, and its clearly a legal misrepresentation rather than an opinion, and meant to induce new fans of cryptocurrency to invest their money in bitcoin cash under the mistaken belief that its bitcoin. The waters are only muddied by the fact that this is an unregulated crypto fight. If it were taking place in a traditional business context the SEC would issue an injunction and stop the misrepresentation. A month ago I complained to Google, which disappeared into the ether I assume. I am not a person easily offended. I have no problem with bitcoin cash or any of the other coins or tokens. In fact, I find myself immersed in it and fascinated by it. I don't favor regulation per se, and I think small indignities in business are the cost of doing business. I'm also a strong free speech advocate. But I'm a business lawyer. And the @Bitcoin claims are fraudulent misrepresentations meant to confuse investors plain and simple. Google and Twitter ought have professional staff able to quickly and reasonably set the matter straight on their own platforms without excuses.
